I read this book in a day a couple of weeks ago-it was a really cute story. I really can't wait to read the Goose Girl if it ever comes available at my library!

#janieandteacake From an article about gaslighting that sheds light on Joe Stark: https://medium.com/@sheaemmafett/10-t... Gaslighting does not always involve anger or intimidation The book The Gaslight Effect refers to a type of gaslighting called glamour gaslighting. This is where the gaslighter showers you with special attention, but never actually gives you what you need. They put you on a pedestal, but then they are not there, in fact they may get angry at you, when you need a shoulder to cry on. It becomes difficult, after a while, to identify why it is that you feel so alone and hollow. In another type of gaslighting, the gaslighter is always transformed into the victim. Whenever you bring up a problem, you find yourself apologizing by the end of the conversation.

So sad to see this series end. There is another series and I hope it ties up some loose ends. I was a bit confused by the last chapter.

Took me a while to start this one, I wasn't sure I would like jumping ahead 5 years with Will out on his own. However, I did quite enjoy it. The series does remain a little predictable in that those you originally think are the bad guys turn out to be good guys and vice versa, but I enjoy Will so much it doesn't bother me too much. There's still the problem with changing POV in the middle of a paragraph, but it doesn't happen as often as in the first few books.

A brief, semi-acrostic breakdown of this novel's title: "S" stands for "scathing," because Slaughterhouse-Five is the most scathing of all satires, with the possible exception of Catch-22. "Laughter," obviously, stands for "laughter" -- what happens when you read Slaughterhouse-Five, or anything by Vonnegut for that matter. "House" indicates an ideal setting for reading this book. The hyphen represents the deep, inescapable rift that war creates in the human spirit. "Five" means that, had Vonnegut not published Player Piano or (heaven forbid) any of the other novels that preceded Slaughterhouse-Five, this would have been his fifth novel. I love you, Kurt Vonnegut. Rest in peace.

** spoiler alert ** My least favorite of the bunch. Now I could have just gotten sick of back to back to back Jane Austen...but I didn't like Fanny at all. I wanted the book to go in different directions and I was disappointed that it still went the way I could have called after the second chapter.

This book was a gift from a friend. Ugh! So much for main stream romances.

Another great book from Wally Lamb. He does such a good psychological study of his characters and once again, he points out the importance of telling the truth.

One of my favorite novels, now reread for the nth time. The ultimate in epistemological and existential despair, tempered by Greene's mature way with eroticism.
