David Sedaris is one of the funniest yarn spinners around! When he tells family stories I often have tears running down my face and am winded from belly laughing so hard. I recommend that you listen to his books rather than read them, part of the hilarity is in his awesome story-telling abilities.

Overall, I learned that God is God, and I am not. My ways are not His ways, and though that's not always a sufficient explaination for why bad things happen to us in life, it's the best we've got, so I'll rest in that. Yancey breaks down the book of Job into OUR struggle, and not just the desperate struggle of a man who might/might not have lived three thousand plus years ago. He is able to truly make that book of the Old Testament come alive, and I will always recommend people read his stuff if they are looking for a deeper exploration of faith in God.

from a blog post: As part of their comic strip, hubby Bill and friend Gene post a weekly book review. Publishers love this, which translates into many boxes of "advance reading copy" books at our front door. Once in a while, one of them piques my curiosity. I spent most of Sunday morning curled up on the couch ignoring my kids (who were playing happily near by) so I could explore one of these advance copies that Bill put in my space. Foremost, Lucky Girl was a pleasure to read. Mei-Ling Hopgood is a journalist by trade and her storytelling skills pleased me. But the story interested me particularly because Mei-Ling, who is close to my age, was born in China and adopted by an American couple living in the US. She chronicles her reunion with her birth family. Reading about others on the adoption triangle keeps me open and thinking. Hopgood's story and outlook differed quite a bit from many stories I have heard, and I always welcome a new perspective. The book is out in hardcover now (and there is a really cool video for it). Pick up the book, or ask your library to buy it - for the authentic and warmly practical style as much as the interesting and compelling glimpse into someone else's experience.

I'm very happy to find one of my all time favorite writer in the library of Goodreads. Ibrahim Al Koni is brilliant writer, and if like to know more about Libya or live in a new myth, you real have to read Al Koni. Actually I'd like to recommend all his books, but this is the only one I found in here. It's really really so good.

All I’m going to say is that this book was so much action, four or five plots going on at once, and ultimately, it’s the action that’s drew me into the Sookie books in the first place. If there isn’t blood and guts and war, then it’s boring. So this one is fun times. It’s an emotional roller coaster. And it’s definitely not one you can skip if you’re reading the series.

It deals with what I was hoping for, what happens when two people so intertwined see and love each other in completely different ways, but the sensationalized and cartoonish way the story was told kept me from thinking of the twins as real or identifying with them in any way, so the good stuff was lost on me.

What a little gem of a find. I love this book with all my heart. This is what teenagers should be reading, not superficial, meaningless trash, but a proper book with likeable, real characters; an inspirational narrator 'Larry', who is extremely wise for his years; situations we can all relate to and at the same time are new to us. I don't understand why everyone loves 'Twilight' so much, but nobody has heard of this book. There is no way you will ever love Edward Cullen as much as I love Larry. I do. I love him. He is AMAZING. I wish he were real.
