I know a lot of people didn't like this book, but I really did. However, if you didn't like it and think that you'll give Emily's sister Charlotte a try, I wouldn't bother. Emily got most of the literary talent in that family.

This was a poignant memoir. Kovic's alternating between first person and third person points-of-view was a little distracting, but his words painted vivid imagery of the nightmares he lived through in Vietnam and in the VA hospital. The book really challenges us to think about America's disastrous foreign policy decisions back then and even today.

This is a really great book (yeah, I know, I say that about EVERYTHING I read, lately) but this, however, is one of those hard-hitting "throw back" novels that isn't PC at all, and lets the character (the infamous Mike Hammer) do what he wants to do when he wants to do it (and consequences be damned). What a thrill to know that one of my other fave authors, Max Collins, had the rare opportunity to help with this book, making it one of the finest "hard boiled" crime novels I've read in awhile. Great work to Mr. Collins, and the late Mr. Spillane, for you've made me a fan all over again! Disclaimer: this book is really good as far as "period pieces"....it was written in the Sixties, so it has all the 'color' of that time, but don't let that prejudice you at all into reading it; you won't be sorry!

Absolutly magical. I had no idea what to expect when I picked this up however I thoroughly enjoyed it. Stephenson describes a time when nanotech use is as widespread and accepted as electricity is today. I love his description of the nanotech pipe which is literally a physical pipe down which raw materials are fed and used to buid things at the atomic level.

This is a really great story. The book is well written and often gripping, but there are almost as many tangents as in a Victor Hugo story; they add some nuance, but I kept getting the impression that he was aiming for some particular page count.

Seriously weird. I slogged painfully through the first few chapters before getting sucked in rather against my will. The ending wasn't at all what I expected (not in a good way) but was funny nonetheless.
