This book has some good tips and a couple of examples of poor advice (like recommending you invest in gold, which isn't a good long-term investment and is too volatile in the short-term). My main problem with this book is that it smacks of being a total rip-off of Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover" book, only it's more poorly organized and not specific enough.

A very insightful, funny, and ultimately heartbreaking book. It's primarily set up like an oral history, a book format I've always had a great love for, and it works well for this biography as there are some differing opinions about the events of Farley's lives and it juxtaposes those inconsistencies well. The book portrays Farley as one of the most gifted physical comedians of his generation and a figure that everyone in the book could not help but fall in love with, but he's also shown to be a man who was plagued by brutally low self-esteem and self-worth. The book verifies the idea that most really funny, talented comics have inner demons that are very difficult for them to overcome and this seems to clarify why so many of them pass prematurely. The book is really a fitting tribute to Chris; ti does not hide any of his transgressions but still manages to show why everyone adored him and why he was such a warm and loving person despite his flaws. And for anyone reading it is a safe bet you'll have the same feeling by the tragic conclusion of the biography.

First Reacher book. I enjoyed him. I liked how at the beginning you are still trying to figure out who is good and who is bad and both sides are lying. I really liked the first few pages. It totally got me hooked.

I am still unsure how this book became a national best seller. Don't get me wrong, I loved it and devoured all 600+ pages of it in a few weeks (which is fast considering the legnth of my mornging commute). But, it's very heavy on the newspaper inside-baseball kind of stuff. That's why I loved it. I found myself getting all worked up about her passionate defenses of newspapers and freedom of the press but if you aren't really itnerested in newspapers or the hsitory she experienced from a front-row seat (sometimes from the driver's seat) it's going to be a slwoer read. It's still definetly worth reading -- the story of a woman in a man's world is fascianting and well-told and she doesn't hold back on the intimate and tragic parts of her life. For everyone who has a say in running a newspaper, even a student one(maybe especially a studet one), and everyone who works for a newspaper, especailly females, this is a must-read.

The original, remarkably lewd version that was immediately pulled from shelves upon publication. Kinski lays everything out here (and quite likely makes up a lot of it). Herzog's film "My Best Fiend" would make a good companion piece.

I saw this book for sale at Building 19 (where they often have lots of good books cheap!) and couldn't resist picking it up. Afterall, it isn't often that I meet a food-related book that I don't enjoy. This collection of columns were mostly previously published in newspapers and journals. The essays focus on food experiences Walsh had while travelling. At each of the places he went he tried to ingest something that was unique to that locale...from the hottest of hot peppers, to the durian fruit, to Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. Many of the essays made my mouth water and I was thinking of hopping on a plane to the different locales and trying out some of the same food.
