Towards the end of the book I thought to myself that G. Brooks must have an issue with Christianity. The epilouge convinced me of this even more. I like the details of the plague and it seems as if Brooks did her research. I will definitley use this in my Western Civ classes. There is a character twist at the end that I was not expecting - I liked that. Overall a book about hope when the whole world seems to be falling in.

I don't really recommend this book. His other books are much better. I found it difficult to connect with the main character - Charlotte - and could not believe the great number of blunders she makes throughout the book.

I liked the dialogue, but the sex scenes were more than a little silly and unrealistic. Tabbie has been running as a wolf, but somehow learned to screw like a porn star?! a little consistency please

Though I loved the concept of The Forest of Hands and Teeth (zombie apocalypse devestates the world), I was ultimately disappointed in the novel itself. Mary, the narrator, is hard to like, and the other characters are so underdeveloped that I found it hard to care about any of them. Really, the only character I did care about was Argos, the puppy that Harry gives Mary early on. The resolution of the novel was ultimately anti-climactic, in part because I didn't feel like there was anything at stake; Mary was just so blase about her life and the lives of others' that I never really felt we were building to a realistic conclusion. Too, a novel with such an original concept requires major world-building, and though Carrie Ryan does a decent job with it, I was left with far more questions than answers. I think she's writing a sequel, and I hope she plans to develop this post-apocalyptic world more fully.

I found myself thinking of this as a very important book, which it is, and being frustrated with the author. I appreciated the history and the insight into the "business". The confessionals at times read like egotistical, emotional masturbation. (A big reason I had to put down Eat Pray Love.) Regardless, read it. Its important.
