Steph Marcus _tephmarcus — I don't really recommend this book. His other books are much better. I found it difficult to connect with the main character - Charlotte - and could not believe the great number of blunders she makes throughout the book.

Connor Cuevas connorcuevc3db — David Maine has now taken three Old Testament stories and turned them into novels: The Preservationist (Noah), Fallen (Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel), and The Book of Sampson. He has a knack for showing several sides of these stories as his fertile mind sees them. In his take on Samson, we see zealotry, lust, stupidity, cunning, the nuances of gender relations, nationalism, and several other themes rise to the surface. Whereas in the biblical account, Samson comes across as a brutish zealot who's actually not very bright, Maine's take on him is both sympathetic (perhaps) and critical. We especially get into the mind of a strict believer with large urges to please both his god and his own lust. However, Maine also avoids what could have easily been reduced to a commentary on violence and terrorism. His portrait of Samson is much more subtle and interesting. I had just finished Samson Agonistes, John Milton's notable attempt to create a classic Greek tragedy out of an Old Testament tale, prior to reading Maine's book. The two takes on the story are quite distinct, but understandable in the context of what we learn in Judges. This made reading Maine's book all the more pleasing.

Márcio César _s_hadow — WOW WOW WOW! I think this is one of my top 2-3 books of all time. It had everything I like in a story...romance, humor, great characters, action/suspense, HEA, a GREAT hero and heroine, and an amazing author that has such a way with words. I won't go into what the book is about as many others have already done so and do it better than I can. I will just say READ THIS BOOK! I absolutely loved watching Zsadist's transformation as well as learning more about his story/background as well as Phury's. I loved the humor as well. The scene with Z getting into bed with Phury had me laughing out loud (as well as smiling and bringing a tear to my eye) as did a few other scenes. This book was all about Zsadist and his evolution. I really didn't want it to end and I hope we see a lot more of him and Bella in the other books I've still to read.

Cintia Gómez cintiagv — Great quick read! Loved that it was reminiscent of Rear View Window. I recommend reading the author's note first - there's interesting info about how she structured the chapters and what her inspiration was.

Emily Bargate emilybargate — When I was a Humanities major, I was well trained in which translations were the best of Homer. I knew my Greek poems, agonized over having to give up my Aeshcylus plays when trying to pack and move- I had to give up so many books that day! Now, all I know is that the Odyssey makes a great story. I like it better than the Illiad. I just love it for itself, I guess. Maybe that's more Greek than studying the experts and being able to translate Greek. Or maybe it's just simply human. I have trouble comprehending that these tales have made it this far. I hope they make it at least as far into the future!
