While I was drawn along by the two narratives, I'm not sure I really understood the whys and wherefores.

Great book! If you like anything like "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" or any of the Harry Potter books, you'll definitely like The Golden Compass! A must read, and see, seeing as the movie will be out in the fall.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, as I wasn't that wild about Scott Pilgrim (loved the movie, though) and was basically only checking this out because of the two page spread in it that references my favorite band, Sloan. ("My first name is Amal and I'm a girl!") Anyway, I read it late at night in a quiet house, and thought O'Malley did a fantastic job of teleporting me into that car, into an era of life that's way behind me now. At times I thought the script was a little too wordy, but it got me inside of Raleigh's head in such a way that it made the payoff of the last quarter or so of the book more than worth it. Not flawless by any stretch, but an evocative piece of work and I'm glad I read it.

Definitely getting back on track. This up, Bigby makes a return and a secret mission, Snow and her children return, and Cinderella returns from a diplomatic mission. I just don't understand what happened to Cind for the potion from Frau Totenkinder. Hope that gets answered soon.

A very funny quick read. My favorite part was the Stinkin' Drunk Twelve-Step Program.

Profoundly moving, quirky and deeply textured. I loved it.

Aaah I savoured this one over some lunch and enjoyed it greatly. The word Fuck is so underrated...it is the most useful word in the english language...my fave was the one on Bernard's parking spot...poor Bernard, I guess he is rather important as he has his own reservation, but not important enough to be spared from fucking stickers. I wish I "wrote" this book...

A fun romp throught he world of European royalty from its origins to the present. Paxman's style is pleasantly anecdotal and non-polemic. His conculsions are surprising comong from a BBC newsreader -- that he'd rather have an imperfect but strictly ceremonial head of state in the form of a king or queen than a dangerously powerful combination of prime minister and head of state.

This is a great work of historical fiction that touches on events in history that I was very unaware of. This book takes place during the Revolutionary War and in places I was not aware slavery existed. Once you get into this book it is difficult to put it down. Although I felt that it dragged a bit near the end it is definately worth picking up and getting lost in the story.
