This was a lovely story that told the story of 2 people who you knew would end up together and yet I was willing to amble through the relationship with them anyway. I thoroughly enjoyed all the Chinese cuisine history that was tossed in as well. A tasty story.

The storytelling and story arc of this book I liked but the writing drove me a bit nuts. Conroy is just too in love with his own words and would have benefited from a severe editing. The dialogue is what drove this from a 3-star to a 2-star read. People don't talk like this to their friends, or anyone else for that matter. It distracted from an otherwise compelling, sometimes tragic, story.

Song Of The Nile By Stephanie Dray is a breathtaking book. I absolutely love Stephanie's writing. I felt like I wasn't in my bedroom any more while I was reading but instead with Selene in Rome or Mauretania watching as her story/life unfolded before me. Stephanie's words bought my imagination to life many times is a understatement (Not many authors can take readers from just reading a book to feeling like they are in the book experiencing it them selves. But I have to say Stephanie does it perfectly). Also while reading Song Of The Nile, I felt for each of the characters, whether it was love, sorrow, anger, lust or something totally different. If your not a ancient Egypt history buff like I am, Song Of The Nile still delivers a powerful performance worthy of reading. Will you be adding "Song of the Nile by Stephanie Dray" to your reading list or have you all ready had the pleasure of reading it? If so. Let's talk.
