An excellent book about dreams coming true, and the hardships along the way.

I didnt believe this would happen... one of the four dies! I havent kept up on the series, just wanted to get this one because its epic. Tragic death, super until the end. R.I.P. Chance of the character returning.

i have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the characters, but what I really enjoyed more than the characters or the story was the realness, or "truthiness" of the emotions. sometimes not kind, not sugar coated, but always raw and real. that more than anything will have me reading more fromMeredith Duran.

This book is a real eye-opener! It is by no means a happy story and is not for the weak hearted. However i do suggest that anyone with a passion for reading really does give this one a go!

Five stars do not seem enough reward for this book. Every university academic and every student should read it. The writers demonstrate how and why 'limited learning' takes places in our courses and classrooms. Their arguments are both horrifying and inspiring. If we think differently and behave differently, then we can make a difference. This book has changed how I think about the world.

Great plot, poor writing. I don't need every development in a story to be foreshadowed. Dan Brown's plotlines are always full of twists and turns, which I enjoy, but every chapter doesn't need to end with the line, "if only so and so had known that soon he would wish he'd had ____ with him." For me, that became tedious.

Really there is no better observer of American culture right now than David Brooks. He is so damn critical of our collective lameness and this book is well worth it. It had been on my to-read list for a while: there are many pop culture references to "bobos" and I wanted to know more about the definition. Bobos are a combination of overly-paid upper middle class elitists who like to act like they are crunchy and down to earth and anything but elite. What makes it funny is the inconsistency of that effort. Like my friend who with his wife makes more than $300,000 a year, sends his kids to private schools that are $30,000 a year and vacations in Duck. But he makes a big show of drinking his coffee in a "Sheetz" plastic mug, and carries around a red plastic beer cup for his bottled water. Brooks talks about how certain places - like Madison Wisc, Burlington VT, etc are hotbeds of bobos. They have a lot of money, no real industry, just information, and lots of organic chefs, free trade coffee establishments and places to recycle or compost. A lot of fun to read - for me I try to be a little more bohemian than bourgeois but it's a constant struggle.

This book was definitely better than the movie version, but still didn't do too much for me.

A gripping topic, but a teaser of a tale. Winchester spends so long builing up the eruption that's it really anticlimactic when he finally gets to the event itself. Even so, it's pretty awe-inspiring to "play witness" to one of the biggest natural disasters in history. And to think about the loudest sound ever heard. (The explosion was heard 3000 miles away--roughly the distance from NYC to San Francisco!)
