This book was ok not great. It took awhile to get into the story and it didn't pick up until after part 3. There is too much extra information that is not needed. It is frustrating to read a chapter and 90% of is unnecessary. Definatly not as good as some of her other books. Over all I wouldn't recommend this book.

3.5 stars. While I do think there is a really interesting concept to this book, I'm starting to get annoyed with the characters. They are still resourceful and quick, but this book lost its humor somewhere along the way, and the characters all rely way too much on adults. Chloe's necromatic powers are a little further explored in this book, but she doesn't seem to have much of a backbone. She was pretty traumatized by a couple of her experiences and it shows. Plus the storyline relies far to much on Deus ex machina for my taste. This one was a little more difficult to stay interested in until near the middle/end. I may just be annoyed with Chloe's lack of courage and taking a lot of crap from a guy she should shut up and just doesn't, but her character seemed to regress rather than grow. I'll still read the last one, but I truly hope she makes a better showing. It's awfully hard to care about a book when you literally despise the main character.

This was the most disturbing book that I have ever read. It's hard to say that I enjoyed reading this book just because I feel almost guilty for enjoying something so brutal and disturbing, but I did. It was very well written and was very descriptive. I never wanted to put this book down, but at times, it got to the point that it was so disturbing I had to. I would recommend this book to anyone! It is a very good read!

This series keeps reminding me of Rappaccini's Daughter, which is a plus. It feels like a dark fairy tale, like how a fairy tale is supposed to be: disturbing and questionable entertainment for children, yet the kind of story children flock to nonetheless. It can be a bit oppressively dark, but I enjoyed it and look forward to the next one.

This is a great book to learn from if you are a writer. Yes, it deals with writers of fantasy, particularly children's fantasy, but there are good ideas for character building and other aspects of writing that folks in any genre could put to use.

I really enjoyed this book. the set up was very exciting! there's no way of actually guessing the end till your there. for a teen vampire book the plot was well put together!

It was pretty unnerving to realize just how systematic the Nazis were in keeping track of people - both foreign workers and their backgrounds/skills and the Jews and "unfit" they shipped to concentration camps. It's simply amazing that the old punch cards could do so much, and the way IBM catered to what the Nazi customers wanted machines and cards to be able to do really makes me glad I don't own any IBM computers. I'm uncertain how much a company should be held responsible today for things the management did in the past, but there should be some sort of accountability on IBM's part for the part they played in Nazi atrocities.
