This book was picked because of the authors Eileen Wilks and Sunny. But know I am adding Patricia Briggs and Karen Chance to my Authors of must read.

Meticulously researched and brilliantly and engagingly presented. This book covers many facets of split second decision making through various case studies and research findings. Each chapter has held my interest and at times read like a novel ("what happens next?") so the author definitely did a great job of presenting scientific research for the layman. Both good and bad types of split second decision making was presented combined with practical ways to train our subconscious to exert at least some control over this mysterious mechanism of ours.

this true story about a daughter that suffers due to her family and the treatment they recieve from her. Adeline suffers the abuse of her stepmother just because she is the youngest and is defenseless. her father doesn't defend her an she feels that she is not loved. she is alone and only has her aunt baba that rewards and praises her. she feels alone and shares her sad story of ehr life as a unwanted child. She tells us how she was unimportant and her family took no notice for her. she was always infirior and was treated unfairly. this story brought me to tears when she writes about how her duck is killed and that duck was her only friend. the style that it's written in is so vivid and i feel her pain. she writes how she cried and when her duck died she felt so lonely and it made me cry and think about how good i have it. i felt so sorry for her and i wondered how she made it through. i was thankful for the loving family i have and it made me realize that ny life is pretty good compared to what she went through.

First of all I think I’m just going to put it out there that I was disappointed with this book. I’m a HUGE fan of this series and Forever was one of my most highly anticipated books of this year but sadly this final conclusion to one of my favourite series left me cold. Everything started off well. I was quickly drawn back into this story thanks to Maggie’s ever beautiful writing and was once again caught up in Sam and Grace’s story. The start of the book was exciting and I couldn’t wait to see where Maggie took us. Then half way through the book I got bored. The romance that I love so much in this series is very lackluster in Forever. Now I know that Sam and Grace had bigger problems to deal with but throughout the rest of this series despite all the crazy going on at these books heart was always Sam and Grace and this amazing love story that had the ability to make me laugh and cry. This book despite being the final goodbye to a world I love didn’t have me shedding any tears- guys I didn’t even get misty eyed. Compared to both Shiver and Linger where I would sob great big my heart is broken tears my lack of emotion towards Forever felt very strange to me and I think was largely because of the lack of feeling put into this book. I felt that Maggie could easily have cut out 100 to 150 pages of this book as nothing significant really happens in the middle making the book drag on. Then at the end of the book Maggie does a complete U turn and everything ends so abruptly with so many things left up in the air. I’m someone who needs a good conclusion especially at the end of a series that I have loved and invested in so I can feel content and ready to let the characters go. I didn’t feel that Forever’s ending gave me proper closure as so much was left up in the air leaving the reader to interpret what they want out of it. I hate when books do that and to be honest felt cheated from the proper ending Sam and Grace deserved. That being said overall Forever was a decent read the high point being Maggie’s beautiful writing. I mostly enjoyed the book up until the end and even then it’s not that I didn’t like the ending per se I was just frustrated mostly with the lack of it. If you don’t mind a bit of interpretation at the end of your books then you’re bound to have no problems with Forever but for me personally I wanted and expected more and hate that I have to leave this series with so many what ifs on my mind. Needless to say this book wasn’t great for me and will be looked up on my bookshelf as the ending that wasn’t, I’ll cherish and re-read Shiver and Linger for years to come and will pass over Forever with regret and sadness for what could have been.

I think this might have been my first "Oprah" book. I was not familiar with this author although many were and I have since read her newspaper articles and columns in magazines. I liked this story because at first it seemed like a crime novel but then it turned into this psychological study of what happens to a family and their interactions when a tragedy happens. Even when things are resolved...there are still unresolved feelings and unexpected obstacles to overcome not only for the "victim" but also for the others touched by this. I thought that the author took a relatively simple story and examined it from new angles.

Good, but definitely not my favorite. There is just too much walking.
This book is really fresh, especially if you've already read a lot on the founders. It skims through Jefferson's presidency then chronicles his retirement years at his beloved Monticello, with his family. Original! It really stands out in the sea of literature written about the Founders.

L. M. Montgomery's lesser known heroine, but just as endearing as Anne.

Non-Fiction. Twelve chapters on how stress is going to kill you, followed by six chapters on why stress is stressful, when it's not, and what we can do about it. If you're a worrier, this may not be the book for you. I won't lie, it upset me in the beginning. There are so many ways that stress can affect your health, your memory, the way you age, how you deal with stressors, and even how your children deal with stressors. The book can become a source of stress itself, one that far outweighs the few methods it gives for dealing with stress. But it addresses a lot of important issues, like the economics of stress and the way poverty and pay inequality have life-long health ramifications. It's not just about stress on a personal level, but a social, cultural, and political one. It also looks at the role stress plays in mental illness, pain, infertility, and addiction. The science can be quite dense at times, but Sapolsky is good at walking you through it and recalling topics he introduced earlier so you never have to feel like you're studying for something. He makes this easy to read, even if the subject is a difficult one. He's a great writer with a sense of humor, an obvious love of science, and respect for views that aren't his own. He offers multiple approaches for any given problem and points out questions we don't have answers for yet. Four stars. Good science writing that challenges assumptions and doesn't take itself too seriously. Also includes extensive end notes and an index. If you read this, get the third edition; it's revised and updated.
