Synopsis: The events of the book take place three months after those of Wicked Lovely, with the fallout from the events of Ink Exchange still simmering between our heroes. Aislinn is beginning to become accustomed to being Summer Queen, while Seth, her mortal boyfriend, is becoming increasingly bothered by her status. And the growing attraction between her and Keenan, the Summer King. A love triangle, however, is the least of their worries; Niall, the new Dark King has revenge on his mind and his heart set on war with the Summer Court. Donia, the Winter Queen, and Keenan's sometime lover, is also not too happy with Keenan. In other words, both the Winter Court and the Dark Court (who are natural allies) both have it out for the Summer Court. Oh, and Seth has ties to all three Courts...and he cannot be loyal to all three. Seth decides to take matters into his own hands, and his actions will change everything. My Review: I liked this better than Ink Exchange, but I don't think it's quite on par with Wicked Lovely. I am disappointed with the love triangle, especially, because it unfortunately goes against what Wicked Lovely set up. I don't want this to be Twilight with faeries, I was hoping it wouldn't come to this. Seth really got on my nerves in this book (actually, I think I wanted to punch all the main characters at least once)! I didn't think he was romantic at all, I thought he was selfish and manipulative. He becomes the "all or nothing" guy, and silently resents Aislinn while smiling to her face, which makes it even worse. Aislinn's character didn't fare much better with me. The love triangle made her wishy-washy where she once had strength and conviction. She was given nothing better to do than agonize over her feelings the entire book, rather than explore her new powers. The Seth/Aislinn thread was overwrought and extremely repetitive, mostly consisting of the two reminding themselves how much they loved each other and making lists of each others' lovable traits, as if they needed to convince themselves--and the reader--that they belong together. If it seems right, I don't need to be convinced. It also really bothered me that neither one believes they're anything without the other. Yikes! Maybe my problem is that I like Keenan. I'm not sure we're supposed to, but I do. The characters always go off on how manipulative and conniving he is, but I don't find him to be any more so than any other character. He does whatever he has to in order to benefit his kingdom, personal relationships be damned. Is this not what a king should do? So far, he is a good king, but at the cost of being an honest person. I like that! Lastly, the plot is left unresolved and cannot stand on its own the way the other two can. In essence, it's a lead-in to Book 4, which probably explains the relatively weak, rambling plot. Everything hangs on the next book, and for all the faults in this one, I'll still be there for the next.

** spoiler alert ** As you can tell I basically only read sports books. Mainly by Carl Deuker. This book is the best book I have ever read. Mick Johnson started kindergarden late so he is a year older than everyone. His dad was a great running back in college but then screws everything up in the NFL. Mick's dad tells him that he didnt play in the NFL because of some ankle injury. Mick decides to look on the internet to see if his dad is telling the truth. Mick finds out he wasn't. There is a gym called Popeye's and Mick's dad owns it. Mick starts working with a personal trainer named Peter Volz. Mick is on protein shakes and pills, when Peter tells him about gym candy(steriods). Mick starts taking them and everything is going fine, life and football. Mick stops taking the first kind of steriods which are D-bol when he starts growning breast. Peter tells him about the injection, then Mick decides to take that. Just steriods take over his life. Mick wants to be the best football player he can. When he is a sophmore there is this 8th grader Dave Kane who Mick thinks is better the he is. So Mick quits taking steriods until he is so concered about losing his starting job he takes the most powerful steriods there are. When he takes them he feels so strong, but then comes the emotional roller coaster. One minute he will be fine the next he wants to kill someone(that is actually a true fact). Mick's best friend finds out that Mick is on steriods and Drew confronts Mick about it. They met at this lake and Mick has a gun. Drew says he is going to tell coach, that is when Mick theartens that he will shot Drew. Drew just keeps on walking, then Mick shots himself. Mick doesn't kill himself though because he twitch right before he pulled the trigger. That is all I am going to say but READ THIS BOOK!
