susakuma
Suelen Sakuma susakuma — I read this book before I read Lord of the Rings. It is a good novel for ages 10 and above in my opinion. Beautifully written with a great storyline.

aliduzgun
Ali Duzgun aliduzgun — Synopsis: The events of the book take place three months after those of Wicked Lovely, with the fallout from the events of Ink Exchange still simmering between our heroes. Aislinn is beginning to become accustomed to being Summer Queen, while Seth, her mortal boyfriend, is becoming increasingly bothered by her status. And the growing attraction between her and Keenan, the Summer King. A love triangle, however, is the least of their worries; Niall, the new Dark King has revenge on his mind and his heart set on war with the Summer Court. Donia, the Winter Queen, and Keenan's sometime lover, is also not too happy with Keenan. In other words, both the Winter Court and the Dark Court (who are natural allies) both have it out for the Summer Court. Oh, and Seth has ties to all three Courts...and he cannot be loyal to all three. Seth decides to take matters into his own hands, and his actions will change everything. My Review: I liked this better than Ink Exchange, but I don't think it's quite on par with Wicked Lovely. I am disappointed with the love triangle, especially, because it unfortunately goes against what Wicked Lovely set up. I don't want this to be Twilight with faeries, I was hoping it wouldn't come to this. Seth really got on my nerves in this book (actually, I think I wanted to punch all the main characters at least once)! I didn't think he was romantic at all, I thought he was selfish and manipulative. He becomes the "all or nothing" guy, and silently resents Aislinn while smiling to her face, which makes it even worse. Aislinn's character didn't fare much better with me. The love triangle made her wishy-washy where she once had strength and conviction. She was given nothing better to do than agonize over her feelings the entire book, rather than explore her new powers. The Seth/Aislinn thread was overwrought and extremely repetitive, mostly consisting of the two reminding themselves how much they loved each other and making lists of each others' lovable traits, as if they needed to convince themselves--and the reader--that they belong together. If it seems right, I don't need to be convinced. It also really bothered me that neither one believes they're anything without the other. Yikes! Maybe my problem is that I like Keenan. I'm not sure we're supposed to, but I do. The characters always go off on how manipulative and conniving he is, but I don't find him to be any more so than any other character. He does whatever he has to in order to benefit his kingdom, personal relationships be damned. Is this not what a king should do? So far, he is a good king, but at the cost of being an honest person. I like that! Lastly, the plot is left unresolved and cannot stand on its own the way the other two can. In essence, it's a lead-in to Book 4, which probably explains the relatively weak, rambling plot. Everything hangs on the next book, and for all the faults in this one, I'll still be there for the next.

Ana Karen anakarenrod87a — I enjoyed this book. The novel jumped from character to character, telling the story of how two young men fell into a sort of love and how their families and friends reacted to this. Throughout the novel, we meet other characters but the book is really about how these men remain in each others lives.

Anna Maria annagajewska — I'm going to be honest with you - I read this because it was a free Kindle book. In the end, I loved it! To give you a little background: I was raised in a mixed religion household (my father is Jewish, my mother is Catholic) and I do not consider myself a religious person. I expected this book to be too religious for me, but I was really surprised. Carrie is an Amish girl, part of the "Plain Folks" society of Lancaster PA. I expected a sort of "Boy-Meets-Girl" storyline but WHEW, there are twists and turns left and right that keep you guessing almost to the very end. I won't give away too much, but there are definitely some surprises in store for the reader! I expected a little bit of ridiculous "peering at him longingly from behind bonnet strings" romance. Instead, I found a realistic and sweetly slow picture of love. I found the overall story to be almost like the cup of coffee that keeps getting passed around and appreciated by various characters - it is a little bitter (as in sad) but warming to the soul at the same time. Sure there were some Bible quotes and morals stuck in, but they weren't suppresive or overly forced upon you. You ended up feeling a little more at peace after reading the book. This may be just me, but I appreciate a positive story that shares a little bit of good left in this world. This book also helped me understand the Amish a little bit more. I don't live too far from Lancaster and Amish country, and like they say in the book, us Englisher's still manage to lack knowledge of their lifestyle and beliefs. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a wholesome, sort-of-educational, change of pace novel.

anttoniomad307
Antônio Matheus anttoniomad307 — I was going to add this book to my 'to read' bookshelf yesterday, but once I started it I read the entire book in one sitting. I loved it. Written from the perspective of a middle aged woman (51) who discovers she has early-onset alzheimer's disease, this is a heartwrenching novel. Dr. Alice Howland is a professor of psychology at Harvard when she begins to notice that she is forgeting things, misplacing items and even feeling disoriented in familiar surroundings. At first chalking it up to stress, menopause, or simply getting older, she soon begins to realize that something more is wrong. The devastating diagnosis of alzheimer's sets her and her family's lives on a new course. This book is beautifully written and heartbreakingly real. I have a feeling it will stay with me for a very long time.
