This book falls under the category of what you call Mystical Reality. Funny, i know! But it correctly explains the book! There are two stories running parallel in this huge novel. The story of Saleem Sinai born at the stroke of midnight when India got it's freedom and the story of India before and after Independence. The beauty of this novel is how Rushdie merges the problems of India after Independence with the problems faced by Saleem in his growing years! i was amazed by the parallels that he had drawn with between the two. And what a great literary writer Salman Rushdie is! His hold over English is stupendous and he can write a half a page sentence which sometimes is very irritating. Yet he manages to weave a story which will bother you, confuse you, enlighten you and in the end make you think about the protagonist! Rushdie is really a one-book wonder! A piece of warning- You might never finish the book in a day or two. you need to be patient!

Wow is all i have to say for this book, wow! Sarah Dessen did it again with such an awesome book! It made me cry so much :) **Spoiler** i loved the transformation of the mom at the end of the book. It just reminds me of my mom because she's the same way! **Spoiler End** This book was just great! It took me a couple of days because for some reason, I was being just like Georgina (Richelle Mead's Succubus Series if anyone gets the refrence) when she reads Seth's books 5 pages a day because she doesn't want to read to quickly because she doesn't know when the next book will be out. Sarah Dessen's books are just that good! Although it only took me a couple of days not like months haha :) but eh regardless this book was really good, if you haven't read it, then go read it!

Audrey Niffenegger totally won me over with The Time Traveler's Wife:, and I've since been digging around for more work of hers that I can fall in love with. Her other picture book, The Three Incestuous Sisters:, did little for me. This, on the other hand, I thought was wonderful. Stark and strange and nearly incomplete, this series of images is stitched together with the briefest thread of a story, at once haunting and oddly warm. The afterword explains that the book dates back to the mid-80s, when Niffenegger was a student at the Chicago Art Institute, working on printmaking and other fiber arts (much like her character, Claire). The artwork was produced from a labor intensive-sounding process involving etchings and plates, and the original publication consisted of fewer than a dozen handmade volumes. I would recommend reading this without the text - let the pictures work their own magic, and sit with it for a while. Enjoy.

3.5 This book was good. Very good, and I like it a lot. At first, for about the first 150 pages, I was kind of bored. There was no plot. Then thing got a bit for interesting. For one, we find out that Cassel is a worker. And a very rare worker. He brings Lila back, and they bust Anton and Phillip. It was interesting, I had to admit. Although when I saw how many pages were left, I felt kind of cheated. Only that much left to wrap up the book? Other than that, the lead made me want more with questions such as, how did he get on the roof? The ending also had the same effect, yet ended in a sense of resolution. Will Lila get mad at him? When will she come back to normal?

This is the first book that I read from Lori Wick. She is a very good author. After the tragic death of his wife, Alec Riley struggles to put his life back together. He and his three children are lost in their grief...until Sophie walks unexpectedly into their lives. Having left her native Czechoslovakia, Sophie has discovered the land which seemed so bright with promise is far from her dream. A highly educated woman, Sophie now finds herself keeping house for Alec and his family How can Sophie find peace in her new job? Will God use her gentle spirit to help heal Alec’s broken heart?

not a huge fan of this kind of sentimentality, but of course it has a lot of goodness to it, also.

I was really enjoying this book at the beginning, but ultimately I was underwhelmed. The author attempts to do too much by combining elements of historical fiction, a romantic/sex triangle, and general life lessons into one novel - and these aspects didn't mesh together well. I wouldn't go so far as to say "don't read it," since I found some passages and conclusions to be smart and entertaining, but overall, it was a bit of a disappointment.
