If you read it and try not to compare it too the Twilight books than it is awesome. I actually really liked it. I took me about 100 pages to really get into it, and then I couldn't put it down.

This book is interesting, but the series as a whole is not great, and each book after this is a little bit worse than the one before it.

I read about this on the B&N site under "recommended reads." It sounds like my kind of book: individual stories intertwine to form a more complete and overarching story.

This book was absolutely priceless when it came time to find a publisher willing to print some of my work. It gives detailed information about each publisher, what they look for, what you should have prepared and where to send it. There's something for everyone.

The Road The Road written by Cormack McCarthy is a very suspenseful and post apocalyptic novel about a father and son and how they must trek through a long and dangerous journey along a road. The protagonists are the father and the son and the antagonists are the street thugs that roam the roads and highways in the eastern seaboard. Most life has been wiped out by some catastrophic storm or event that leveled cities and countries. Life has been destroyed animals and plants are all gone. Wherever the boy and the man go they meet miles of little shelter and little food, houses have no roofs and most of the cities tall buildings are rotting away from the rain and wind. The author also tells the reader that there are no more natural cycle of seasons, and for most days it’s either winter or cloudy which really effect the man and boy. The father and son carry a single gun with only three bullets from protection against those who hunt and try and kill them or any other survivors for food. The novel opens with a father and son sleeping outside in the cold. The father wakes up from a dream of him and his child in a cave, facing a huge, and creature that eventually runs away into the dark. At dawn, the father and son remain nameless throughout the novel. The boy awakes from his sleep and they set off on their journey, following a road through the countryside. The author lets us know that there is always a sense of danger. They discover an old, gas station they camp at the gas station for the night. Then the father tells the boy that they are heading south because the weather will be much warmer. The boy and his father travel south for days and weeks with not much break during the long journey. Along the road, they scavenge for blankets, canned food, and other useful goods from abandoned houses, grocery stores, barns, and sheds. The father at one point finds a can of Coca-Cola and gives it to the boy to try, who has never tasted a soft drink. They pass the house where the father grew up, and they walk through however, the son is very afraid of being there. The story unfortunately ends there and for the most part the author leaves you hanging and makes you imagine up the story in the end. The Road is perhaps the most chilling story of our time. The post-apocalyptic setting really sets up on the fear of natural disaster and what humans can do to each other when we are at the brink of destruction. This was a very compelling novel and McCarthy does a very good job of telling the story of a father and son and how they really bond and work together as a team against all odds.

I'm not one for touchy-feely self help books, but this one was recommended by a friend and it tought me a wonderful lesson that I still hold onto today - don't take everything so damn personally.

A pretty comprehensive book on international human rights... sort of like the bible on it. a good primer for anyone wanting a good intro to the subject. haven't read it in a few yrs, but i think i recall being slightly disappointed with its handling of certain topics ... i think it glosses over a few topics that i thought deserved much more attention. i forget which ones, haha... what a terrible review. [edit] as j.kou said, yes, it is a textbook so it's dense and for the most part boring. hm, yeah... read something.

I wasn't familiar with the Zodiac murders until I saw the movie, which I enjoyed so much that I was inspired to read both Zodiac books by Robert Graysmith. (Also, apparently I used to live about an hour away from where the murders took place?) This book was fairly interesting; I'd guess it would be hard to screw something like that up, when you're dealing with a demented serial killer who calls himself the Zodiac and sends messages in funky code. The prose was a little clunky, and it felt like writing nonfiction didn't really come naturally to Graysmith, but it turned out okay.
