A very rewarding and challenging read considering how we are to be peacemakers in this world that is filled with so much turmoil. Nouwen writes during the Cold War era and much of his discussion revolves around the nuclear arms race. However, his words are just as pertinant today in a world filled with evil and many actions that threaten peace. I particularly enjoyed Nouwen's challenge for us to begin this peacework process by focusing on our own inner lives and the peace or lack of peace that exists there. The roles of prayer, resistance, and community are explored in the peace making process with attention given to the requirement that a Christian is by definition a person of peace.

I. Loved. This. Book. I was a bit skeptical about it at first, fearing a good portion of it would be preachy, as I'm not a religious person. But instead of making me feel like I was having religion shoved down my throat, it made me feel more comfortable with my own religious ambiguity. I admire Ms Gilbert for airing her mental "dirty laundry", as someone who has dealt with depression and axiety all my life, she offers a refreshing take on how to deal with it. I may try to incorporate some of her revelations into my own life. As with most books I read, I rate it on how it makes me feel, however, I would give this book 5 stars for writing as well. Gilbert sets out to share incredible experiences and she does a great job letting the reader into her journey. This is a must read.

When did the movie come out? that's about when I first read it. My favorite of his. Why do I love sad books so much? My paperback copy was a tie-in to the movie and had a torrid sort of cover.

I thought this book was going to be a joke, but it was really an interesting examination of someone who was a cultural phenomenon and icon. I was glad to see that I'm not the only one out there who has Jackie O. dreams.

I went to grad school with Mark, and one of the poems is dedicated to me. It's my all-time favorite poem. Mark is prolific and beautiful writer; I'm not the biggest fan of poetry but I love love love this collection.

I really liked this book. I didn't start to like it though until about page 100 or so. The story is mainly about Agnes Scofield and her extended family. The story begins in 1953 and ends around 1976. The unique and interesting aspect of the story is the how the everyday aspects of a person's life can be viewed in a profound a meaningful way. There were many things in this story that hit home.

Surprizeingly good. The fact that the hero is addicted to morphine is well writen and very belivable. The heroine is smart and learns from her mistakes. Also she acts like a 18 year old.

I was glad this wasn't the culminating book - I liked that there wasn't a need to hurry and conclude the saga and truly felt the pacing was perfect. Have enjoyed each of the books more than the previous. Want to reread to confirm opinion.

Ehhh, this was just okay... Nothing spectacular, sadly. I'd never read this particular Agatha Christie before, and thought it seemed intriguing initially, but it wasn't as thrilling as I'd hoped!
