I loved this book. The storyline was amazing. It totally fulfilled my HEA requirements and there's another book due out soon, I hope. I'm looking forward to book two after reading the sneak peak. I would totally recommend this book.

An intriguing way to think about cult brands; things like Apple make more sense viewed through this lense. Only things I would have liked to have seen explored is the relationship, if any, between LDS and JetBlue.

Not as good as the first but I'm still hooked. Moving on to book 3.

This book started off a little slow, but it packed a powerful punch at the end. It is a very touching and heart-wrenching story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew who meet at a party after their college graduation in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1988. Their relationship is documented on the same day, July 15, for over twenty years. I look forward to seeing the movie.

Very fast-paced. The scientific aspects are not too daunting.

Story: Beatrice, a UK expat living in NYC, gets a call from her mother saying that Beatrice's sister Tess has disappeared. Beatrice goes back to a winter-clad London and starts trying to figure out where her sister might have gone. Pretty soon afterward, her sister's body is found in a park. The way she died as well as an apparent psychosis she was suffering from after giving birth to a stillborn baby gives everyone the impression that Tess took her own life. Beatrice believes her sister would never have taken her own life, but nobody else is interested in hearing her. She becomes increasingly unkempt and "crazy looking" as she conducts her own investigation into what really happened to Tess. And she does her investigation without the support of anyone at all - nobody, not even her fiancee or her own mother, believe that Tess was murdered. But still Beatrice refuses to give up her investigation. Turns out there's a lot of truths to uncover. General thoughts: Well, I just finished this book and found it to be quite a strange experience. It was definitely a gripping story, and well written in parts, and yet in other parts I found Lupton's use of commas really odd, and sometimes her sentence structure seemed almost amateurish. Which was weird because in many other parts, she sounded like the most beautiful, poetic writer ever. So, all in all I found it odd for that reason. But the story itself? Very gripping, and with a gasp-worthy and slightly upsetting twist at the end. In the back of this copy of the book is a little interview with the author, and she gives us her opinion about what the ending really means. i.e. was it real or not? She believes that it was real, but says it is up to the individual reader to decide what they think. I'm the sort who can't really believe it's real unless there is 100% blatant "yes, it is real and here is all the proof" confirmation. But it sure did make me sit up and go "WHAAAA?" All in all, this was a great read and if you like crime/thriller from an amateur sleuth perspective, I definitely recommend it.

It might be my BA in English Literature, but I really did appreciate Meg Cabot bringing forth so much of the Lady of Shallot and Arthurian folklore into this. I have a fond appreciation of literature before 1500. Unlike her other books which end being fantastical in the general nature of their circumstances and perspectives (Mia's a riot and I love "The Princess Diaries" series, but it is outlandish at times), Avalon High is YA teen fiction meets sci-fi/fantasy and that's a nice change of pace. Perhaps the best element is knowing that younger people who are reading Avalon High can benefit from learning about history and literature without even realizing it. For those already knowledgable, the book is an enjoyable modern-day spin on things.

I tore through this book in 2 days and was intrigued at the concept and possibilities. My problem with young adult books is the lack of character development, so I wasn't expecting too much in that regard. The characters are stereotypical and predictable, but once I saw past that, I became engrossed in the quest of the Lorien’s and Mogadorian’s. I AM NUMBER FOUR is suspenseful and very visual, especially in the explosive action sequences (no wonder it was made into a movie so quickly). Overall, I liked this book, and will definitely be waiting when the sequels come out.

The premise of this book was a good one; the Borgias are a fascinating family and can make for a great story. While I think this was a decent book, it moved kind of slow. I did enjoy the characters and Esther made for a very sympathetic narrator.
