I had high hopes for this book, but I couldn’t get through several first chapters. I remember liking it when I was reading it the first time, but now – it didn’t work for me. Maybe I had too much of feisty 17 years old heroines? Maybe the hero and the heroine didn’t click for me? In part I remember being annoyed with the age difference. I have to say that a big age difference in romances is an anti-kink of mine. It would be strange to expect many romances set in the XIX century to have two eighteen year old lovers getting married – or two thirty year olds. But it is not the number itself – it is the attitude that goes with it. Plus, I do prefer to read about older heroines

Read as a kid. Read with my daughter when she was a kid. Loved it then and now. Imaginative and well written. Plus I have the memories of reading it aloud with my daughter. We took turns each reading a chapter.

While some stories are superior to others in this collection from Asimov's robot series, this gathering of science fiction is interesting, thought-provoking and doesn't have a dated feel, despite a 1950 publication date.

This book contains all the tried and true recipes listed on bottles, cans, and jars. Preparing and enjoying them is a bit nostalgic!

Another classic, and one I thought was pretty good, if not amazing. What I normally like about King's work is that he mixes well-written horror and suspense with surprisingly profound themes and messages. I didn't see much of that in Carrie, but it's still a very entertaining book.

Because I hadn't read the jacket copy, I wasn't expecting the paranormal element, but I thought it was very clever once I realized how things were going to play out. Hayley & Harper's romance had me tingling throughout the first 1/3 of the book, so that was fun (and something I definitely didn't get from Black Rose). That sensation did fade as their romance zipped forward, but whatevs. Not my favorite Nora Roberts series, but entertaining nonetheless.

I really enjoyed this book. I do love historical fiction and Martin is a very easy writer to read...the way he goes back and forth from the past to the books present. I'm descended from the Mayflower, and I like the fact that there were "Saints and Sinners" on the boat. My Pilgrim died the first winter, but his wife and two daughters came on the next boat. His daughter Mary, married a crusty old Sailor...who puts me in mind of the main character of Cape Cod. I also enjoyed this very much because I lived on Cape Cod for many years and the book is factual enough to give you an idea of how the terrain became what it is.

I am hesitant to even call this a book. The only thing terrifying about a Dean Koontz book is the author himself. So why do I subject myself to this drivel? Because every few years it's good to remember just how bad writing can be. A baseline of wretchedness against which all other writing can be measured. Dean Koontz is the absolute zero of writing- there can be none worse. Nobody. None.
