Best book of the series by far. Beautiful commentary on the nanny-state mentality that many people can develop and embrace without really thinking through the repercussions of such a government.

I have no idea of where to start with this review. I enjoyed the book, but did not seem to LOVE it like some other reviewers have??? The storyline... The storyline for this book was different and unusual. There are 5 different factions and each one had different beliefs. When a person turns of age, they take a test to determine which faction they are compatible with. Then at the choosing ceremony, they get to choose which faction they would like to join. Of course, the book would be boring if our little heroin chose her own faction, so , she chose a different faction. Dauntless which is the faction of courage. Each new member is put through an initiation of sorts and if you pass, then you may join the faction. If not, then you will be factionless. The Characters.... Beatrice is one tough cookie! Dauntless was the perfect faction for her. She is nervous and scared, but brave enough to do what needs to be done in order to survive. I really liked Four too! He is edgy and mysteriously sexy. Their relationship is very sweet and innocent. The friends that "Tris" aka Beatrice had made during initiations were great also. I really liked Will the best. He was sweet and I was kind of hoping for a romance with him and Tris, but oh well! In Conclusion.... I would suggest for anyone whom loves dystopians to read this book. I think that I have wanted to read this book for a while and I built it up so much in my head that when I finally read it, it was not as fantastic to me anymore. I am not sure, but I will be reading the next book, Insurgent, when it comes out in May. “I might be in love with you." He smiles a little. "I'm waiting until I'm sure to tell you, though.”

Very cute. MC Escherlike in ways that weren't always fun, but it was cute. Some of the most troubling questions this book raised the author chose not to address in any deep or satisfying way. I found the ending very improbable as well, but the events leading up to the big climax were were satisfying and very effective and I chose to see them as the 'real' ending.

The book twisted wasn’t really so much twisted, but more suspenseful. The book kept me on my toes. It made me wonder, what was going to happen when Tyler got investigated? What was going to happen if Tyler went to trial? The book being written in first person made it more interesting to read than other books, because I knew what the main character was thinking. My favorite part of the book is when Tyler, the main character walks away from Bethany, his father’s boss’s daughter. He walks away when she says he wants to talk to him, and leaves her standing in the school hallway. This is a good book to read if you like mellow drama and if you like to read about things that happen to people in every day life.
