Another great Rizzoli/Isles thriller from Tess Gerritsen. Does leave some issues unresolved though. Not sure if it was on purpose to segue into the next one or just sloppy. Guess we'll see - I still enjoyed it!

Turned my kindling interests in the dark gothic future of the 41st Millennium into a raging wildfire. Abnett's short, brash, and distinct style lends itself well to this massive 800 page tale of an Inquisitor of the Emperor's holy Inquisition and his rather interesting day-job. Equal parts action, detective story, and supernatural horror, Eisenhorn was great read and it's a good base for people who are curious about the Warhammer 40K universe and want to experience the setting without buying a bunch of plastic models and a $50 rulebook.

Nothing really much seemed to happen in the second book, I personally think that it could have been added on to the end of book 1 and the beginning of book 3.

So here's the thing. I made the big mistake of reading this book about 15 years ago, when I was pregnant with my second child and in the midst of morning, noon and night sickness. I thought this was a great, scary book, but then something in it triggered my gag reflex and I had to put it down. Everytime I have attempted to get back to reading it, I'm brought back to the days of vomit and have to put it back down. Maybe Stephen King is just that good. I'm going to try it again this summer.

There's a lot to admire about the guy, and every single thing that there is gets mentioned at least three times here, with almost nothing to countervail it. Clearly, this book isn't your go-to for objectivity. That said, it did make me like the Pope a lot more. Not just for his vigorous resistance against Nazism, the Nazi sympathizers in the church, and the Soviets. He also rescinded the 500-year-old encyclical that declared that the sun revolved around the earth, which earns him a couple of extra points.
