As good as it's title implies ... this is a book for World Builders. I was honored to be part of the process that brought this book to print. I contributed to some of the sections in the book. Overall, if you're looking for a book of easy to read, sectioned lists for everything from tree types to justice systems or rocks ... this is a great resource.

Good until the end. A very sloppy and quick ending doesn't really make that much sence anyway!

Title translated into English: Leaves from trees Legends, myths, healing practice and observations of native trees 34 middle-european trees are listed in this book. Starting with maple tree (at least in the German edition) the author describes mythology, botanical identifications like occurrence, height, leaves, blossoms, fruits also medical use with remedies made of trees. There are also cooking recipes e.g. maple syrup-almond-ice-cream included in this book. The pictures are in black-and-white, a bibliography with recommended literature is at the end of the book. I like to read in this wonderful book time and again although the size is a bit to unwieldy for taking it along when I´m going for a walk.. Just picked this up at the library last week. Happened to see it on display and thought I'd bring it home. Yes, it's a graphic novel - like reading a comic book! This is the second graphic novel by this author, who is one of my favorites, Shannon Hale (The Goose Girl). I read her first graphic novel, Rapunzel's Revenge, and found it entertaining. This is the sequel. The main characters being, Rapunzel again, of course, and Jack, as in Jack and the Beanstalk with some fun twists. Quick read, very enjoyable.

This book is certainly not well written, and it will never be mistaken for good literature; however, any fan of the Sweet Valley series should read it. It's interesting to see the characters at an older age even though the premise that sets up the book seems out of character for the inseparable twins. I could not help liking it, even as I found myself rolling my eyes at some of the more cliche dialogue or efforts to show the depth of the characters.

Quick read, fun, very sci-fi meets world.

This book is so good and so often overlooked in favor of Jane Eyre. It's a masterpiece of atmosphere and characterization with acute psychological observations. A fascinating, and in some places completely surreal, book. I guess I don't reread it as often as Jane Eyre (I'm a sucker for Jane's moxie! and of course, moody, tortured Edward Rochester), but I think I actually like it better.

I listened to Crush It. Read by the author. And if you've ever heard Gary Vaynerchuk speak, you'll know that's half the experience. :) I disagree with a couple of points Gary made and believe they should've been explored further: 1- Passion is everything: While some people may have a single passion that defines their personality, I'm plagued with a plethora of passions that has made it extremely difficult for me to decide what to pursue, when and how. Yes, passion is important in choosing what business to create, but how do you deal with multiple passions, without feeling like you've compromised any of them? 2- Work extremely long hours: At one point Gary says that if you're not prepared to stay up late working on your business, then put the book down and move on. However, I believe that investing too much time - ALL the time - in your business creates more problems and obstacles than it helps to progress. Rather than encourage readers (listeners) to put in more hours, it would've been better to offer guidelines on how best to use one's time. Hard work and commitment are important, but they need to be placed in a healthy context that has room for social engagement as well as recreational activities. If you're already familiar with the importance of the Internet and how social media can be used to leverage your business and personal brand, then you may not find a great deal of new information in this book (but potentially high doses of inspiration).

I thought it was crappy and stopped reading it, but then when Matt and the man in front of me in the return line at the library said they read/wanted to read it, I decided to give it another go, and I still believe it was just okay. And that pole-dancing chapter -- did anyone else see that King of Queens episode where Carrie takes pole dancing lessons?
