Helder Da daconstenberg — I had read so much about this book, but was disappointed that it just didn't deliver as promised. I liked the first part of the book, especially the parts taking place in 1942, but once the book started focusing on Julia, I lost interest and it took me awhile to even finish. The modern day characters were not at all fleshed out by the author, and the storyline felt contrived and even like a soap opera. It would have been a much better read if the author had just focused on the events in 1942, and eliminated telling Julia's story, which played out like a Lifetime movie.

Roberto Campolucci robertobordi1571 — ** spoiler alert ** I enjoyed both the setting and the characters in this novel. While I generally prefer a little more resolution in stories I read, I am not terribly disappointed in the conclusion of this book. I look forward to more works by this author.

Patricia Sanjurjo patriciasanjurjo — I thought it was crappy and stopped reading it, but then when Matt and the man in front of me in the return line at the library said they read/wanted to read it, I decided to give it another go, and I still believe it was just okay. And that pole-dancing chapter -- did anyone else see that King of Queens episode where Carrie takes pole dancing lessons?

Dmitry Konkin jjohnston — I'm very impressed by how this felt so similar to watching an episode of the show. The characters were written very well and the story was just as high quality. Artwork is nice too!
