I really like Jennifer Weiner books, but this one I was a little disappointed in. I guess it was because it wasn't a full novel, but short stories.

Ohhh my, More than 1/2 thru and I suspected something was up with a fav character of mine-so I read the last page and went to bed, very upset! Upon finishing the book today I need to have faith in the author to remedy the situation with the help from the main character's sisters + mother. Well Joanne, don't disappoint me....

Entertaining, funny, sometimes polemical...but every inciteful read. A collection of essays by my church history professor. He offers criticism of Evangelicalism in light of history that the chruch should think about.

So funny! Summer's over and school is starting again, but Fred and Jess have a major row, and then there is the horrid new English teacher, who want's to eat Jess for lunch, and her Mom is dating someone young enough to be her son....how will Jess ever cope? Watching Jess deal with all the traumas in her life and creating many of her own, is a delight. These books make me laugh so hard. I love British humor.

Along with Eliot, Yeats, and Rilke, Hill is of the poets who didn't just change the way I read or wrote, but changed the way I looked at the world, changed everything I had ever wanted to be. I was introduced to his work almost accidently, at the end of a tutorial in 20th Century British Poetry when I was abroad at Oxford my junior year. We had finished the planned curriculum, and the tutor needed to fill in the last few weeks with something, and we decided someone contemporary would be best. Mercian Hymns is one of those books of poetry that shook me, made me feel as if I was looking through time and civilization and language. "September Song," from King Log, is perhaps the most gut-wrenching poem I have ever read about the holocaust, capturing with its detached language the essence of "the banality of evil." I spent my entire senior year wanting to write the the prophetic authority of Hill; I think the reason I stopped writing poetry is because I knew I never could match his voice.

The Book Thief is a beautiful story, narrated by death, that is a reminder of the power of words. I would recommend this book to any teen or adult.

In BBB, Dee Ann Smith, an ex marine frenemy and Dez (the heroine from The Mane Event) join together in a task force to track down the people behind the shifters disappearing and/or being created to fight in the nastiest version of a dogfight you'd ever come upon. But they soon find out they may not want to know- especially when they discover one of the main money sources is none other than one of their very own. Meanwhile Ric Van Holtz is determined to make the woman he's loved all his life his mate- and it will take all his prodigious charm- and sneakiness- to get her to to his bed. With a little help from his friends- and one teacup poodle- he might just do it. Well- despite my misgivings over the heroine of this story- I did end up enjoying Big Bad Beast… but that’s probably because a lot of the rest of the packs, prides & clans that populate this series were in it and most definitely because of the charming Ulrich Van Holtz. What brought it down for me was indeed Dee, although I did warm up to her more than I thought would. Still, I found her to be a complaining bitch most of the time (even though Ric said just the opposite about her, weirdly enough), with her worst flaw being the fact she was boring and predictable. If it wasnt for Bo, Blayne and Lock this book would come in much lower, but, because of them- and Ric!- I would still recommend it to anyone reading the series!
