Tarun Ponwar _e38a — This is one of the books that I have read probably 100 times. It is the story of Elnora Comstock, a poor farm girl that loved the outdoors, mainly the Liberlost swamp beside her home. All Elnora wants is to go to high school, but her mother disagrees and makes life incredibly difficult for Elnora. Through the story you see Elnora go from a socially sheltered girl to a confident and beautiful lady. Everytime I read this book, I want to visit Indiana to see if anything is left of the Limberlost swamp and the butterflies and night moths that used to call it home.

Dueto Drawing duetodi — So funny! Summer's over and school is starting again, but Fred and Jess have a major row, and then there is the horrid new English teacher, who want's to eat Jess for lunch, and her Mom is dating someone young enough to be her son....how will Jess ever cope? Watching Jess deal with all the traumas in her life and creating many of her own, is a delight. These books make me laugh so hard. I love British humor.

Olli Tervo ollitervo — I love steam punk and really looked forward to reading Dead Iron. I am not familiar with the authors other body of work so I can't compare this book to her others. It was a bit slow moving at the start as you got a feel for the world building, but I found the characters engaging and the plot intriguing. I'm now thoroughly hooked and look forward to the next book to see where it leads.

Ktl Leiker tissylove5e19 — I read this book because my daughter had all ready and I wanted to see what she was reading. It is very much like Harry Potter except the main characters have no magical powers. It's about two kids who have to stay for a couple weeks with grandparents they barely know. (the children's parents have to go on a cruise with fellow family members. they didn't want to go but were kind of forced to go on "vacation") The kids eventually find out that their grandparents are caretakers of a magical preserve. And there is the possibility that they may be allowed to take over when the grandparents retire. The magical creatures they present in the book are mostly not nice with a few exceptions. And there is the theme that danger is always present because of them living on a preserve. The children are present for Midsummer's eve, in which the creatures run wild for the night, yet another dangerous situation. If I remember correctly, their bedroom is "protected" by magic as long as children are in it and no adults are there. This is yet another children's story where adults are not always present and the kids eventually are on their own against evil and must save the day without knowing where to go for help. At one point, the girl does pray, not specifically to God, but it doesnt get answered at all. This disturbed me-why include it if you aren't going to use it? So many children's books do not present a higher power that will help them in times of trouble! I was disappointed with this book.

Elliott Eubank elliott101457 — Serah SanGermano was 1st introduced in book 1 of the series Demons Prefer Blondes and in that book the author hinted that there was much more to her character than what she seems to be. Something's going on with Serah because things seem to heat up when she's around. When I say heat up and I really mean that. She keeps this info to herself and isn't very happy when Matthias Ambrose is assigned to be her bodyguard because Serah is actually pretty important. She just doesn't know it yet and is irritated when Matthias is around because not only does she not want him there but because she is extremely attracted to him. He just screams trouble and Matthias has his eye on Serah as well. They actually share a past, one that Serah doesn't remember and there's a good reason why. Yes I'm being vague in this review and it's because I don't want to give anything away. But as the story flows she learns more about herself and exactly how Matthias fits into her life. The characters from the first book in the series Demons Prefer Blondes also make appearances throughout the book. Overall, I found the story to be entertaining at times and felt that the author's writing was great, but I had a hard time connecting with Serah and Matthias. For me there just seemed to be something missing that I just can't put my finger on. There were times where I wasn't enjoying the storyline and times when I found myself laughing at what was happening. I don't think I was able to get fully vested into the storyline because my feelings for it weren't consistent.
