Great classic! Book burning, drug abuse, massive screen T.V., abortion as birth control..... Doesn't sound so futuristic any more. This book is sooo wordy that I found it almost decreased the great message. I just read this to Jack and Mads and after a lot of discussion , I wanted it over with by the end. First read March 2009

I found the first part of the book interesting. I learned a little bit more about how food affects us and how we can improve our health by what we eat. I don't think I'll try any of the recipes though since the book was written in Great Britain and I don't have the energy or desire to translate all of the recipes into formats I can use.

I enjoyed this book very much!! It has a clean fresh approach!! The only four letter words were hope, love, and pray. It tells a story of a much simpler life where hard times were approached with trust in God and neighbor helping neighbor. The characters were based on the hard working, church going type of people our Christian ancestors were who settled in this great country of ours and made it as great as it is today. I only wish we could go back to a time when we lived life with the same outlook that the characters in this beautiful book portrayed. It showed the true teachings of Christ thru their lifestyles of loving God and your neighbor. Thank you Lisha Kelly for this reminder of what we were placed on this earth for.

I loved this simple, oft-told story of two down-and-out people who find each under and get pleasure in the duty of caring for one another. The story and setting are not unique, but the voice of both characters, and the collage the story is laid out in, and the insights resonate with me still. OK, and I cried at the end. Not many books can make me do that anymore.
