Finally finished the bastard---it was a real slog. I'm sure the writing is some people's cup of tea, but not mine. The most interesting part of it, and the only part that has stayed with me strongly, was the description of how it all went sour---the point where the civil rights movement stopped being cool and was dropped in favor of drugs. Definitely a warning.

I swear these just keep getting better and better. These books are like the best of both worlds. Urban Fantasy in Paranormal Romance format with world building, lore, and long arcs that tie it all together but every book has a complete and satisfying ending. This should be the standard format for series in either Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance. No cliff hangers, no insulting teases, breath taking action, humorous banter, situational comedy, romance that is present throughout and an integral part of the story but not the entirety of the story. Ilona Andrews always leaves me satisfied and feeling like I'm a fan who is respected. Again I say - this is how it should be done.

After reading some books from Austen, I must say that Pride and Prejudice is the best one from Miss Austen. The characters are lively, the plot is inviting, and Mr. Darcy? I won’t have to say anything, I drool. And this time, the love story is convincing. It’s nice to see how the relationship between Lizzie and Mr. Darcy grows. Yes, their relationship represents the war between pride and prejudice. Austen executed the idea quite well, I think. Oh really, I found difficulties writing this review! I cannot say much about this novel since many many people have already stated the strengths (as well as the weaknesses) of Pride and Prejudice. All I can say is I am glad to have taken a part in digesting one of the best and engaging English novels.
