A fictional tale of a woman coping with her young autistic son. The author creates a fantasy world for her characters and nothing about it seems accurate or true. I wanted to hurl this book across the room at least three times. I hated the protagonist, who seemed snotty, and I didn’t care about anyone else. This book got good reviews, why? I want my money back.

I loved the start, middle, and end of this book. There was ONE part I hated SOOOO much though. When Ren died. I wanted to throw my book across the room. I loved the ending with Sabine and Ethan. but killing Ren was way to much. I didn't want to finish this book. I did though...

hmm...hmm...hmmm I just don't know. I wanted very much to really like this book, but I only got to like. I read several other books before finishing this one. It's definitely not your average vampire or angel story. Elena Deveraux is a hunter-born vampire tracker and in Angels' Blood we find that she has been chosen for a very special hunt for a very special prey of a VIP client. Before, during and after the hunt, Elena is entwined in the will they/won't they of a relationship with one of the worlds most powerful Archangel's, Rafael. There is a bit of world-building going on and laying the groundwork for future series entries. The storyline is interesting and the world that is still being built here is extremely intriguing. It is intriguing enough that I'll try book 2 and possibly 3 before I make a decision on going farther. The first half of the book was difficult for me to get through (it was just dull) and it wasn't until we got to the actual hunt that I cared about the ending. But still not overly so but I did find things to love. My favorite conceit was the archangels ruling the world and creating the vampires. The hunt & battle are exciting and move the story rapidly. The after action cleanup was also good as things were wrapped up and set up for the 2nd book of the series. The secondary characters held my interest the most and were clearly defined. I especially liked Dmitri. It took me a minute to warm to Rafael - but I did. Uram was a worthy protagonist. The things that didn't work for me were Elena herself. I enjoyed her more as a secondary character in the prequel. She didn't seem to have much to say. I was fine with the family baggage - have a matching set myself. The repetition of her POV describing Rafael having a scent like cool water and having cobalt blue eyes. If you don't know what cool water smells like or know what color cobalt blue is you won't know if it is said one time or 150times. Either pick a different description or move on. Her other thought was that she wouldn't succumb to Rafael. It got wearying. The second thing that didn't work for me was the romance. Just as much romance can be found between f-buddies or on a booty-call.There was light flirting and resistance on both their parts. So to turn the page and both of them so in love they couldn't live without each other -- ever! And at the same time?!?! It was hard to swallow and unbelievable. There was a lot of sex and lust but not much romance.

The "date read" above is actually my sixth reading of this book. The Dark Phoenix Saga is certainly the most gripping story arc within a major comic continuity. This is pure pulp comic book superhero stuff, but it's never been done better. Particularly astounding are two of the major action set-pieces in the story: Wolverine's rescue of his teammates, and the final confrontation with the Shi'ar Imperial Guard on the Blue Area of the moon. There's little character development, and a simple, derivative plot, but the story moves along so breathlessly and efficiently that you won't even notice. The term "page-turner" was created for stuff like this. The Dark Phoenix Saga is mindless, entertaining, absorbing storytelling at its absolute finest.

Not as good as other books in the Troubleshooters series. I seldom give a fast-fun-fiction read more than a 3, so this speaks well for this. Brockmann is one of the best romance/mystery writers. Her books include topics that have to be well researched to be believable. What drags this down (and drags almost all romance writing down -- as far as I'm concerned) is the plethora of bedroom love scenes. NOT necessary, especially when there's a healthy mystery component. How many times and ways can you describe sex, and believe me, these romance writers don't want the readers to miss one moment from start to finish which annoys me. But the whole series is a "saga" (like watching Boston Legal), so I'll continue on reading as long as the series continues. I'm hooked on the characters.

sequel definitely not as good as the first.
I actually listened to this on audio--but I'll count it. It was an okay book. Don't remember loving or not loving it.

I just realized I didn't have the Lord of the Rings series on my shelves. Love, love love The Fellowship of the Rings, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Some of my favorite books. It's been a long time since I've read the Hobbit and I don't remember if I liked it as well as the rest of the series.
how musicians hear music through their souls, not their ears. i am not a musician and it was fabulous to read the world through this little girl's ears.
