Wouldn't force my worst enemy to read this awfully written waste of paper. I couldn't make it past halfway through the book, and that was with immense effort. The character development was simply nonexistant. The plot, even for a FANTASY, was totally unbelievable and actually quite cheesy and predictable. As soon as you meet a character, you know their purpose--love interest, wise old man, ect. There are no surprises here, don't hope for any. It doesn't matter that the author was 16-ish when this was published. Age is absolutely no excuse for bad work.

This was really, really good. The main character, Craig, is a funny guy with an innocent personality. He seems so different, but when reading the book, you realize he's an average teenager with semi-average problems. His family is normal, his life is pretty normal, his friends are a bit weird, but that's okay. I was surprised to find that this was a sort of memoir; Ned Vizzini had a similar encounter as a teen. That makes it all the more relatable! ps- This was way better than the movie.
