As the series continues we're into a new generation, as is my own family now, so the later books are more meaningful to me, as they deal more with grandchildren, grown children, and neighbors. A very enjoyable read! April 2015 ... re-read and again thoroughly enjoyed.

“Sometimes, I feel as though I’ve never been real,” I've been waiting so long to read this book and I'm so disappointed.I don't know even know where to start from.Stygian's Honor was such a confusing book.I got lost so many times...There was so much drama in this book that I haven't ever seen in any other book. Let's begin with the two main characters.I envy Stygian so much...I don't know where he got his patience from but I would like some for myself.I really hated Liza or should I say Honor?Well I'll use the name Honor because I like it better.I understand the fact that she had a horrible childhood but Stygian's was by far worse than hers.Did you see him having breakdowns or complaining? No.I just couldn't keep reading her about her constant whining and her attitude.I got so frustrated. Moreover,it was so tiring trying to keep up with the plot and Honor's exaggeration and drama. In my opinion,Stygian deserved better than her. Considering his past,I have to say that he became a very strong man that no matter the circumstances protected and cherished those he loved. The thing is,that I could definitely feel his love towards Honor whereas felt nothing of her. I was expecting so much from this book. For one thing,I wanted to see Amber healed. She's just so little and I love her and her parents.I especially loved a scene where Amber snitched on Jonas. Here's a taste “Don’ call me ’itch, Da.”“Then don’t snitch on Da,”....So cute. Nevertheless, this is my opinion.I'm not discouraging anyone fom reading Stygian's Honor, especially if one has already read all the previous books of the series. The only thing that I'm hoping is that the next book be much better than this one was. I'm also looking forward to reading Claire aka Fawn and Gideon's story. First posted on: http://sofialovesreading.blogspot.gr/

If you are someone who either hasn't figured out yet that what calls itself "The Church" really is just a human fake of the real thing, or who is just starting to figure that out, then this might be a great read for you. However, the information in it is really basic - it's like reading a 4th grade tutorial written by an 8th grader. The author speaks a lot about remaking our faith in the "radical", lived faith that Jesus requires - but really, he's not that "radical", and he's still living and preaching the life of a typical, fervent church-worshiper. Being fervent in your faith is NOT a guarantee that you're living it right. The pharisees were among the most fervent people on the planet, and Jesus told us that if we don't live our faith better than they did then we're NOT going to make it to heaven. He also told us that many will end up banging on heaven's (closed - to them) door, saying "But we did all these great things in Your Name!" - only to have Jesus say, "Off you go - I never knew you". If the author continues in his journey, and becomes willing to surrender all he still wrongly believes makes up the real Church, then I imagine he'll have some great elder wisdom to share at some future date. Until then, I'd pass for something written by someone yet further along the Real Jesus path.

For some reason, I'm always a sucker for books/movies/stories that have a strong father-son dynamic. So when I picked up The Road in a bookstore one day and read the plot summary, I knew I had to read it. This is a story about a post-apocalyptic world in which a father and his young son are trekking across the barren wasteland of a country, doing their best to scrounge for food while avoiding cannibalistic raiders along the way. This is not a horror story or a thriller, but there are moments of true terror in this book. I'm pretty sure I said "Holy shit!" aloud a few times while reading. This was a new experience for me, as I had never really been frightened while reading a book before. But the core of the story is the man and his boy and how their love for one another keeps them going. Each of them would do absolutely anything for the other. And Cormac McCarthy does a fantastic job of depicting this relationship. As a reader, you really want both of them to make it.

it is said that virginia woolf revered james joyce to the point of trying to emulate his writing...i can totally see it. this fact doesn't detract from the book or the story, which is so classic that pretty much anybody can relate to it, no matter your time period. can be a tough read, is hard to keep track of at points, but is totally worth it. fantastic.

I learned about the use of U-tubes. There can be something like say copper sulfate (which is a salt of copper) and on one side there can be another chemical and this other chemical reactions with the copper sulfate or whatever other chemical's in there. If there's anything produced by the reaction then it will go up the other side of the tube. I also learned that the scientist who made the periodic table by arranging cards projected where he should put a new chemical even though it hadn't been discovered yet. He called it eka-aluminum because it was supposed to fit right underneath aluminum. When it was discovered, it was called gallium.

The Legend of Witch Bane follows 3 small, unlikely heroes as they struggle against evil to save their parents and their country. Kodobos, Anyr, and Laris are the young heroes who travel far from home to recover a mighty weapon that can defeat the evil Queen Rhiannon Eldess. In a style reminiscent of J.R.R. Tolkien, author Kevis Hendrickson weaves a masterful narration sensitive to a young audience yet engaging for adults to read. I think he is an author to watch especially if he can catch the eye of a commercial publisher! All readers who enjoy a well written, engaging fantasy novel should check out The Legend of Witch Bane!
