4 Stars. I may have wanted to punch Henry in the face a few times but Goddess Interrupted was undoubtedly an excellent sequel to The Goddess Test. I'm still thinking about it. So, this one picks up where The Goddess Test ends - Kate and James spend the summer travelling around Greece but summer's over now and it's time for Kate to head back to The Eden Manor for her coronation as Queen so she can rule the Underworld alongside Henry. Although it'd be understandable if Kate was afraid/reluctant to head back to see Henry, she's not. In fact, she's quite excited to see him again. After all, she is in love with him. However, trouble awaits Kate and the rest of the Gods in the form of - you guessed it - Calliope. First off, I quite enjoyed The Goddess Test but it wasn't the sort of book I was thinking about after I was done with it. Goddess Interrupted, however, was way better. The story just kicked up a notch in this one. After just a few pages in, I realized how involved I was with the characters. I loved the return of Ava, she really is quite lovely. We meet Persephone in this one and really, I'm so glad the Aimee Carter didn't make her out to be evil. I mean, she was supposed to be Kate's sister after all so I wanted them to get along. The story was fact-paced from start to finish and I didn't stop reading even to take a break.(view spoiler) I need to read The Goddess Inheritance now! The only thing that probably frustrated me was, unsurprisingly, Henry. I wanted to give him a kick in the butt and make him wake up because it seemed like he wanted to wallow in self-pity. A good guy wouldn't hurt someone the same way he was right? I was so mad at Kate throughout the novel for not being more assertive and sticking up for herself but I was glad that she in the end finally called Henry on his B.S. , although she forgave him too soon. All I can say is that if you liked The Goddess Test, you will love this one because it is so much better! This is a fresh YA series away from vampires, werewolves and fairies and definitely worth checking out!

I may just be a horrible reader for this "type" of book, b/c I hate them all. I pretty much stopped reading this book and had to suppress the urge to destroy it when it suggested that you "check out a book from the library on good jobs for psychology majors". THAT'S WHAT THE FUCK THIS BOOK IS CLAIMING TO BE AND WHY I AM READING IT. SERIOUSLY?? How DARE you, Julie DeGalan and Stephen Lambert. Just.. how dare you. You should both be ashamed.

It's not necessarily a page turner, but I simply LOVE what he has to say about partisanship, citizenship, and his entire paradigm. Whether you agree with his politics or not, you can't deny he is a brilliant man and his motivations in politics are not self-aggrandizing (unlike many in upper-level government). I strongly believe he really wants to make this country and world a better place. And I think he can do it! We gotta get on board and do our share. He inspires me!

This is a very strange book. It's disjointed; it interrupts the story flow to discuss irrelevancies; it's crude- and yet it's entirely INCREDIBLE. Although it definitely has a plot, it's not the kind of work you read just "to see what happens." You read for the sheer enjoyment of the process. From a step-by-step recipe for a perfect bowl of cereal to a novel way to divide up an estate to mahtematical proof of why hookers are superior to masturbation- you find yourself amazed at the way the author is able to tie everything together and keep you turning the pages. To be sure, very serious subjects are discussed as well. A short discourse on the Holocaust will stay with you for a long time (We said "Never Again" so long ago, yet genocide still happens- why?). The absurdity and waste of war is shown repeatedly, sometimes with devastating precision and sometimes through humor. In fact, I personally consider it the best anti-war story I've ever seen because it manages to convey the horror of war while showing its occasional necessity. Admittedly, it's huge, and probably a literary critic would tell you it could be edited down, but it's a worwhile investment, both in money (about $9.00 as a bargain book at Amazon!) and time.
