Elanor Chuah elanorchuah — Really enjoyed the concept of this book. Growing up in a small town made this book easy to appreciate. Saw many similarities in small town Iowa and small town MN. Good coffee table book!

Nawwf Al-naiziy _aw501e1f2 — I really did like this. I wish I could say I completely understood it.. but then it felt very much like Alice in Wonderland. Much of it was based on nonsense words and a class/political system that is foreign to me. (And being an Anglophile, I didn't feel it was a very British class system, altho maybe too subtle for a non-Brit to pick up.) But Fforde and his sense of wordplay has me fully in his grip. I laughed quite a bit at the library scene. And I enjoyed the whole hierarchy of the Colortocracy. This is supposed to be a series of 3 books, and I wait with about as much impatience as I wait for his Thursday Next series.

Diego Marques diegogmarques — 4 Stars. I may have wanted to punch Henry in the face a few times but Goddess Interrupted was undoubtedly an excellent sequel to The Goddess Test. I'm still thinking about it. So, this one picks up where The Goddess Test ends - Kate and James spend the summer travelling around Greece but summer's over now and it's time for Kate to head back to The Eden Manor for her coronation as Queen so she can rule the Underworld alongside Henry. Although it'd be understandable if Kate was afraid/reluctant to head back to see Henry, she's not. In fact, she's quite excited to see him again. After all, she is in love with him. However, trouble awaits Kate and the rest of the Gods in the form of - you guessed it - Calliope. First off, I quite enjoyed The Goddess Test but it wasn't the sort of book I was thinking about after I was done with it. Goddess Interrupted, however, was way better. The story just kicked up a notch in this one. After just a few pages in, I realized how involved I was with the characters. I loved the return of Ava, she really is quite lovely. We meet Persephone in this one and really, I'm so glad the Aimee Carter didn't make her out to be evil. I mean, she was supposed to be Kate's sister after all so I wanted them to get along. The story was fact-paced from start to finish and I didn't stop reading even to take a break.(view spoiler) I need to read The Goddess Inheritance now! The only thing that probably frustrated me was, unsurprisingly, Henry. I wanted to give him a kick in the butt and make him wake up because it seemed like he wanted to wallow in self-pity. A good guy wouldn't hurt someone the same way he was right? I was so mad at Kate throughout the novel for not being more assertive and sticking up for herself but I was glad that she in the end finally called Henry on his B.S. , although she forgave him too soon. All I can say is that if you liked The Goddess Test, you will love this one because it is so much better! This is a fresh YA series away from vampires, werewolves and fairies and definitely worth checking out!

Alexander Hudson pxl8d — Maybe it was me reading this after all the hype, but I just didn't love this book. I didn't like that it took nearly 400 pages of exposition and complication to get to the climax of the plot, and about 150 pages of page-turning action to speed through the anticlimax and denouement. And despite the 400 pages of exposition, I really don't think the reader got to know Blomkvist's character all. Salander's character was better developed and likable, despite the fact that she wasn't supposed to be. The last 2 pages were the best part, not because it was simply the end of the book, but because it was unexpected and expected at the same time, and I appreciate that the ending was a little messy instead of wrapped up in a pretty shiny bow. Not sure that I'll pick up the next 2 in this trilogy. If so, I won't be purchasing them.
