"Salem Falls" is a novel by one of my favorite authors, Jodi Picoult. The plot surrounds a man named Jack, who is accused (although he didn't commit it) of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. He gets put in prison for a crime he didn't commit because his lawyer said that this would be easier for Jack to just get it over with. After getting out, he heads to a small town in New Hampshire called Salem Falls. He meets Addie and she hires him at her diner. The citizens soon find out that Jack was in prison and what he was in there for, and that is where the trouble starts. Overall, I thought that this book was a very good read, as usual with Picoult's novels. Definitely one of her better ones, I'd say.

This book is sweet and endearing. It is about a girl coming of age in a quirky, eccentric family living in a crumbling British castle. I really came to care for the characters. The vague ending left enough hope that not having everything wrapped up didn't bother me.

This book had a rather slow start. I really didn't get into it until the last half, then it got better. Poor Patty Jane, alone with a baby, Harriet, who looses the love of her life. Then follows a path of drinking like her parents till she meets Reese. Nora, Patty's daughter, grows up amongst it all. Thor returns towards the end of the book, where we find out what happened to him. Clyde Chuka becomes a stable point in Patty Janes life but she stays married to Thor. Harriet looses her battle. The story and the characters play off each other very well and was a heart warming read.

Iris (very pretty name) and her best friend Collette, both around 14 years old, like to cast spells at a cemetery in their boring town in Louisiana to pass the time during the summer. One day at the cemetery, a ghost appears in front of Iris saying "Where ya at Iris?" Since then he begins to haunt her and bother her causing her to wonder who this guy is and how he ended up dead. Iris, Collette and a cute boy, Ben, try to solve this mystery all the while coming across some problems arising from their investigating. At some point, they find out that someone close to Iris may have been involved in the death of this boy. This book has an interesting and unique read. It was a bit slow for me at times, which is why I didn't give it four out of five stars. Overall I really enjoyed reading it because of the writing and story. The writing is so darn great I love it. It's simple yet awesome especially how Saundra Mitchell describes things with such interesting detail. Here's an example of something I really liked (DON'T WORRY NO SPOILERS): "In old pictures, Deputy Wood had stood tall and skinny, with a thick black mustache that waterfalled down either side of his mouth. Having seen him lately, though, I knew that his mustache had gone salt-and-pepper and he'd thickened out in the middle. The blue uniform stretched tight across his chest, and his star didn't lie flat anymore." pg 44 Gosh, I LOVE that and there's so much more awesomeness like that throughout the book.

Cute. Almost predictable, but a bit more complex than what you might expect.

I thought this installment in the BDB series had a lot of stories going on at the same time. We learn that the omega has a son, and that Blay may not be the ladies man John always thought he was. John's secret gets revealed and Phury works through his drug dependancy. We learn more about Rehvenge and what it's like being a Sympath, and that's still not all of it. The book was supposed to focus on Butch and Cormia's relationship, and in my opinion there could have been more scenes with them, and a little less about everyone else. It's almost like Ward tried to cram as much information into this book as possible. While most of it was entertaining, I'm sure she could have left some of the stories for future books. With all that said, I am looking forward to seeing what happens with Lash, and also what happens with Blay and Quinn in the upcoming books. I enjoyed this book but I hope the next one is a bit more focused.
