An ironic craft book filled with Amy's strange sense of humor. The photo styling was perfectly tacky and kitchsy.

Wish I could have loved it as much as Ed did. He's right though...it could have been written today. By the way...who is John Galt?

This book portrayed the politics of post 9/11 New York in such a depressingly accurate and true-to-life way that I really can't say I enjoyed it, although the writing was quite good and it rung so true I had to keep reminding myself that it was a fictional story. It's about how a jury to pick the Ground Zero memorial decided on one design from a bunch of anonymous submissions - and then discovered that the submission was designed by a (secular-minded) Muslim architect. Of course this was immediately leaked to the press and a huge, ugly storm of media frenzy, grief-stricken families of the 9/11 victims, and self-serving politicians descends on New York. This may be enjoyed by fans of Ann Patchett's book State of Wonder, because I found the style and tone of this book similar to hers.

Ok, Ari is one tough cookie and I sort of liked Sebastian. But, to be honest, this book didn't really capture me, even with all the action. It wasn't until the character Athena was introduced did the plotline really start cooking. However, she was introduced closer towards the end, a little too late in my opinion. Definitely an interesting read.

This was the first of the Holly Barker series I've read (appropriately as it is the first in the series). Most of the books I've read of Stuart Woods' is the Stone Barrington series. I really enjoyed this book and it was nice to get to know a new character. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Written by the british Danny Wallace as a sort of diary- but comes across as a fiction book. Danny comes to a point where he has no life, says no to going out with friends- then one day the subway is stopped and he happens to take the bus home. He is joined by a man and they get to talking about life, when Danny tells him how his life seems to be going no where, the man simply says, "say yes more". Danny takes this quite literally, he decides to say yes to everything, to going out, to taking on extra work at his job, to even spam! I think this books was a real reality check, and makes you more positive to what life has to offer- to just saying yes more.

One of the few Dr. Seuss book that I like.

A compelling read. I was shocked at the fate dealt to the American Indian by American settlers and government. It makes slavery look like a "walk in the park". The history books did not relate the same story. I am glad the truth be told.

Nonfiction account of Dr. Paul Farmer (he's also an anthropologist!) - absolutely amazing guy working primarily in Haiti to cure TB. The author gives voice to your own cynicism / doubts / fears as well, which is nice, and makes the book that much more inspiring.
