Üç Kız Kardeş - İclal Aydın TrendKitaplar Kütüphanesi

There are so many reasons I could have loved this book. A new fantasy race of people who are immortal and compelled to sacrifice themselves to save others? Awesome! A counter immortal race that is compelled to kill people? Awesome! Finally, a book that has all the things I love about fantasy and then puts a twist on them to give me something new... ... well at least that's what I was hoping. Unfortunately, my excitement for the Revenants was ruined by the romance. I'm not sure why I expected any differently, but I thought for once maybe this paranormal romance trend would actually have some spectacular twist that made it different from every other paranormal romance. But nooooooooo, God forbid that actually happen. As I read I just went through a checklist in my mind on everything that made this book mediocre like everything else in the genre. Girl who thinks she only looks average? Broody boy with terrible past? Instant attraction between hero and heroine? Everyone in the paranormal race is beautiful? Hero tells girl she is the most beautiful girl in all the world and he never looks at other women? Only heroine can melt the ice around the hero's heart? Girl has special connection to hero that is legendary and mythical? Yep, looks like everything is present. The romance made me gag, and don't even get me started on the stupid ending. God, the ending. It's like everything puke worthy in romance wrapped up into one little nice package of butterflies and happiness. Oh, he's just so dreamy and romantic! If only my boyfriend were that thoughtful and caring... not. I'm totally supportive of guys treating their girlfriends well and doing nice things for them, but this book just didn't cut it for me. Everything he did just seemed to planned out and way to cliche. It's like everything he did was just because it looked nice, not because it was actually something that would realistically be fun or cute. All the scenes were planned like some horrible romantic movie with sparkling stars and glittering lights and professions of undying love... but how long did they know each other? I guess you don't need to know each other for insta-love, because somehow you just know *gag*. It's not even that I'm against the romance, because I actually do like romance in a book. I like watching character's relationships develop over time and turn into something cute that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The reason I was so disappointed with the romance in this book is because it was exactly like every other romance in every other paranormal fantasy book. I know the horrible past gives the hero depth, but I'm kind of sick of reading about broody immortal men. I'm as sick of them as I am of heroines who always complain about how average looking they are, and then having the men tell them how they are the most beautiful girl in the world. Yes, women do like to be told they are the most beautiful girl in the world (I know I do), but that doesn't mean I need to hear her complain about how average she is throughout the entire book... nor do I want to listen to her constantly wonder how an average girl like her could get someone as wonderful (hot) as the hero. Can't she just accept the fact he likes her? Can't she just be happy a good looking man wants her and be done with it? Now that I've insulted 90% of the book, I can explain why it got an 'okay' instead of a 'dislike'. The heroine WAS different in an aspect I liked. She was weak and very human, but strong in all the right ways. That probably doesn't make much sense, but she was the perfect balance between defenseless and strong-willed. I felt like her reactions within the book (BESIDES her insta-love with Vincent) were pretty spot on with how a girl would react in her sort of situations. I also liked the relationship between her and her sister. They had a closeness that seemed reasonable to me... they weren't attached at the hip but they cared for each other and trusted one another in a reasonable way. One last thing, is it bad I liked Ambrose way more than I liked Vincent? I wish someone would right a book with a guy like him as the lead way more than a guy like Vincent. He was actually FUN and laughy... I guess broody leads sell better.
