Read this book. Don't see the movie. The book in engaging and the author's neroticism is not so annoying. You have empathy for her and find her struggles interesting and not whiny like in the movie. Makes you want to take on such a challenge and think/cook outside the box.

This is a pretty easy read and though it is written by an 89 year old and is partially about old age, it is something that I still felt able to relate to or at least understand. There were also moments of looking back on her life and her childhood, etc. It's a bit scattered, but for the most part it just feels like having a conversation with someone where one thing leads to another and you kind of forgot how you got on that topic in the first place. I loved the opening sentence of the last chapter, and think this is a pretty good way to sum up the book, "One doesn't necesarily have to end a book about being old with a whimper, but it is impossible to end it with a bang."

This is easily one of the best books I have ever read. The drama, the highs, lows, relationships he evokes as well as the settings are so impressive. It's not just because it's a book about the trenches that makes it so great, it's a brilliant, real look at the life of a soldier. It made me see the war completely differently and I know the book has changed my perspective. I picked mine up free for World Book Night but I'll be buying a proper copy before I pass it on, I don't want to not have a copy on my bookshelf!! Read it, it's quick and powerful, you won't be disappointed.

Being utterly hopeless at both maps and mazes, I think I have completed roughly 3 of the puzzles in this book (and I probably cheated on those!) The idea that these are for kids is complete rubbish. Enjoy the incredibly inventive and varied illustrations and the story, and try not to get too frustrated at how difficult these puzzles are!

I read a lot of books that involves demons and dark spirits but I think this is a series with the most darkest and sinister demons that I've read so far. The ending was just like a horror movie and it kept getting better and better as turned the pages. Poor Jayne is lost in her own little world that her deceased Uncle Eric left behind right on her doorstep.What's lurking in the Grace Hospital messes up Jayne's mind and gives her nightmares she's never dreamed of.An excellent read and I'm immensely eager to see what happens next.

I like the book for the mystery at how well the author kept throwing in twists. However I'm conservative and didn't like all the language and at one point a graphic adult scene was described.
