It has elements of her series for Riley Jenson but its a plot all its own. It was quite an adventure and the idea of elemental dragon is an original idea, but still that pulse pounding sense of mystery and intrigue was missing. I made it through the book with frequent side trip into other books because it lacked something I quite cant put my finger on.... Well other than that I was confused with the cover it was kool but I thoought the tattoo would be well an obvious element unfortunately no. I dont read about mmany tatted up heroines but oh well maybe one day, and Vampire academy doesnt count to me...

Doyle does such a wonderful job of capturing Paula Spencer's world view. As in his other books, he also includes the quiet desperation of Dublin. One of his more serious books, but don't let that scare you off; it's great.

I read this book when I was in Junior High - 8th grade I think. We had a choice between this one and a book that was less that 200 pages long. I think I was one of two kids that picked it. What a great choice I made - totally LOVED it! The first 100 pages took a while to get through, but then it was awesome. I think I'll have to read it again.

This is a gripping debut novel that I could not put down. I devoured this book, eager to determine how Christine lost her memory, why her husband Ben seemed so elusive & cagey, & wondering who she could trust. The answer to these questions did not come until approximately the last 30 pages of the novel and as all began to knit neatly together at that point the pit in my stomach grew & I found myself growing uneasy. Thankfully, the book does not end on that note. Bravo to the author!

Ugh... I keep putting this book down and then trying to pick it up again. I'm starting to think I might not finish it. Normally I can't leave a book unfinished, no matter how bad it gets. I'm an optimist when it comes to books - "Maybe it'll get better later". But I am torn with this memoir. It's interesting as you get a glimpse into Iranian society, politics, and the lives of women in Iran, but the author's self-important tone is a real put off. And I could do without all the extended literary analysis.

Surprisingly good! I had never heard of this series, but tried a sample when my Kindle recommended it to me, and then downloaded it. I figured it was another Twlight copycat, but it is very good. I loved Twilight, but there are parts of this that I may even like more. The main character, Rose, is a dhampir... a half-human, half-vampire guardian-in-training of the "good" vampires- the Moroi. Guardians protect the Moroi from the "bad" vampires- the Strigoi. Rose is a tough, strong, flawed, but fabulous character which was great after the whiny Bella. Add in a telepathic link with her best friend Lissa, and better written forbidden love/sexual tension than in Twilight and you've got a great story.

One of Dickens best books. He is a master at intertwining plots and subplots with innumerable characters and never loosing sight of the least one. It is, as most of Dicken's novels are, a daunting proposal when you examine the heft of the book, but once you get started you are so caught up in the story being woven that you are left wanting more. Bleak House chronicles the tale of cases tied up in Britain's probate court with a satirical look at the legal process of the day. The ironies of the court translate to current times well, making it both timely and a wonderful time capsule of the era in which it was written.
