This is the very best of the many Obama-themed books for children that I've seen so far. It is just simple charcoal sketches on cream-colored paper that Kadir Nelson spontaneously started drawing in his joy on election night, combined with some of Obama's words from five of his speeches, from the Democratic convention in 2004 to Election Night 2008. This small, simple book brought back some of the same profound, joyful feelings I experienced myself while watching the election results and the inauguration.

What was this book about? What was the main plot? I really don't know. Great augmented reality and related stuff, as for the rest... I didn't like it too much, I found all related stories incomplete, boring and/or didn't care about them. All in all what I hated the most is the impression I got that Mr. Vinge wants to leave TOO MANY things undiscovered or unrevealed using cheap tricks that I always dislike in the Sci-Fi genre, like not knowing who the hell is impersonating a character... but, hey, maybe that's just me. I really liked A Fire Upon the Deep and had high hopes on this one... I ended disappointed. I'll keep trying though on other more spacey books from this author.

I loved the other book Corsen wrote, the Secret Life of Lobsters, and I really enjoyed this one as well. It's an easy read on the history of sushi and the industry behind sushi as we know it. the narrative about Kate and the sushi school got a bit tedious at times, and I was almost embarrassed that as one of the few women in the class, Kate seemed lazy at times and so unfocused. But overall, I rooted for her and I couldn't put the book down. though it has made me rethink my sushi eating habits and I tried to be a bit more adventurous the last time I went out.

I suspect that most people, like me, who bought this book did so because it validates their suspicions or even hostilty towards alternative medicine. In fact, When I picked up the book in the store I first had a quick check to make sure it wasn't pro-homeopathy and other nonsense therapies before purchasing it. I really enjoyed reading "Trick or Treatment", which I thought was very well-written and well-researched, as well as being full of interesting facts, figures, anecdotes and historical information.

While the story is interesting, I didn't like the tone of the book. It was very self serving. I could tell the author is probably not someone I would want be around very much. I probably wouldn't read any other books he wrote.
