This was one of the books I read when I was told, upon employment with Big Labor, I didn't know a damned thing about the labor movement. It's an interesting biographical description of what it's like to be a union organizer, the kinds of issues you deal with, and the overall mission of your organization (and how you fit in!). If you work for Big Labor (or are interested in what my co-workers do all day), this is too quick a read to ignore.

Though at times, I found myself saying "Yeah, I know, I know", it is full of great information and actions to take, attitudes to take on, that will truly improve your life. I've read it twice and will every few years or so. I also loved that it was full of stories and examples from her practice. I love hearing real stories and situations.

This book was amazing!! My only disappointment was that it wasn't long enough. Normally, David McCoullough's books are nice and lengthy and so detailed, I was shocked and disappointed not to see the entire life of TR told in this book.

I'm so glad I finished this before the three-day weekend and didn't waste my precious little holiday reading time on this seriously thought-terminating cliché of a lesbian detective novel. One might think that it is possible to do kitschy in an entertaining way without insulting the audience but here the novelists failed to do so and ended the unengaged drama so predictably that I felt insulted on behalf of all future and current lesbian detective readers and lesbians everywhere. There was less mystery to this dyke drama and more obvious stereotypes being fulfilled in paperback form.

Hmm. It's always difficult to review the conclusion of a series without giving away tons of spoilers. I will say, however, that the pace of this final installment seemed to lag. Sure there were a few twists and turns, but none that were too terrifically surprising. The characters all more or less stay true to themselves and make their decisions accordingly. The ending feels a bit rushed and anti-climactic, which, after the high drama of the rest of the series, is a bit of a disappointment. Ah well, it satisfied my curiosity regarding the fate of the various characters. I still found that, in the end, the only characters with any real redeeming qualities are the Holland sisters. Teddy is a nice guy, but his character is underdeveloped to the point of relegating him to "supporting character" status. Too bad. I'm not sure I'd ever have liked Carolina and Penelope has always been a classic "mean girl"; nothing changes here.
