On top of that, her hot, supposedly loyal boyfriend, Griffin, is keeping secrets from her. Plus, she has been receiving emails from a blocked sender that may know something more about Phoebe’s dad’s death. If you’ve read Oh. My. Gods., you will not want to miss this. I enjoyed Oh. My. Gods. so naturally I wanted to read the sequel. I wish I hadn’t, because Oh. My. Gods. would have been enough for me. If this wasn’t a sequel and just a stand-alone book, I may have liked it but it was a sequel to a book that was really great and this may have ruined the whole experience (of reading this book) for me. The plot was slow and a little ridiculous. The characters got twisted in this sequel. Griffin wasn’t the perfect guy anymore, which was probably intentional—but still. Phoebe turned into the green monster every time she saw Griffin with someone else. She doubted herself of her own trust issues and kept going on and on about it. It was annoying and her character had changed so dramatically, in that way, that quite frankly, I came to hate her by the end of the novel. Also, there were some questions that were not answered in the book. Childs may have anticipated a third book in the series, but judging by the ending of this one it seemed to close up very nicely. However, I still wanted to know more about Griffin’s parents. And what about Nicole, what descendant is she from? I think we could have gotten some answers. Overall, if you’re looking for an okay read, pick this one up. It doesn’t make much difference if you’ve read the first one (in my opinion, however, the first one is the best). If I were reflecting on a stand-alone book, I wouldn’t have been so harsh but the first one (Oh. My. Gods.) had set certain standards that this sequel was definitely lacking. It just didn’t cut it for me. I felt I was reading about a whole new set of characters and whole different series. It just didn’t feel right. It wasn’t the book for me. I've loved every Gerald Lund book I've read. I love how he writes a novel that introduces me to an event/time in history and writes it in a way that is intriguing. I had never even heard of the Hole in the Rock Pioneers. I found there journey inspiring and faith promoting. I highly recommend this book!

If you like beautiful prose, often obscure imagery, then this book is for you. Nabokov is a master at prose, and although one might find that he/she has to spend a considerable amount of time looking up the definitions of words, the book is still worth reading. Pale Fire is one of those books that made me really wish I could write 1/4 as well as the author. As a native Russian, Nabokov writes one gazillion times better than I, a native English speaker.

I was disappointed that I accidentally ordered the abridged version, but it was the perfect length for a weekend drive to Charlottesville. As a rule I prefer reading a book over listening to it. But, every rule has its exception, and David Sedaris is the exception to that rule--his books are far superior on audio. He is absolutely hilarious, and his dead-pan delivery and great impressions are to die for. On this particular version, his sister Amy joins in, and her talent for comedy adds to the amusement.

I recommend White Teeth to everyone who ever asks me about my intercultural experiences and my overt antagonism towards people who belittle me by calling me "a foreigner". So I was excited to read The Autograph Man, hoping that it would give me an insight into another section of the world, one that I had less contact and experience with. And in many ways, I suppose it did. But I can't say that I came out of the read with better understanding other than perhaps distress at how incomprehensible people on drugs tend to be. But maybe that was a goal. Maybe the Kabbalah references were simply coincidental to the story. Too bad that's what I got stuck on, impeding my ability to really follow much else of the storyline. The writing is gorgeous though. "Women are the answer. They are. If you'll only let them into the story. Women. They are the answer." "What's the question?" "England is always autumnal from the air" Maybe I'll give this book another go when I'm a little more relaxed and able to look past the piles of information on each page that I simply don't understand.

i am so in love with this book. i love how brent and caroline were friends as they go through their married-life and in the end discovering how they cared for each other and realize that they love each other afraid of saying it. the lies and secrets they have definitely made the story worthwhile to read, even i didn't want to put the book down to know what will happen next. how i wish there is still a man like brent that exists in this world. brent being the gentleman and most romantic kind but tough on the outside.

Süpermen'i gerçekten çok seviyorum. Bu kitabı gerçekten sevmedim. Hikaye potansiyele sahipti ama Maggin arsa için odadan çıktı, çünkü Lex Luthor'un tüm hayatı boyunca ne kadar harika olduğunu konuşmaktan çok meşguldü. Kitap, Lex ve Superboy'un son dakikada atılan biraz kötü planlanmış uzaylı entrikaları ile birlikte büyümesi hakkında bir gezinti şeridine dönüştü.
