I saw this at the library, not realizing it was a childrens book. I read it anyway and liked it. Maybe when my daughter gets a little older we can read this series together.

5/29/14 I just finished the Audio CD of this book. I am sure my comments would mirror my words of the printed word if I had written a review of it. I was rooting for the Hero and Heroine, but they were sold to cooperate. If each had been truthful at the beginning of this tale, the tale would have only last a few hundred pages...a short story or maybe a novella. I think the author could have taken a different path and had a book. This one of the first audio book that I have actually fast forwarded to get to the point. Luckily, the 'happily ever after' started happening at about the last 1/4 of the book. How did that happen? Ah, the Heroine finally told the truth and the hero faced up to his demons. Actually, I cut him more slack than I did her. I really like this series and am willing to overlook minor blips, this being one, along the way. I will continue listening to the audio version of the written word of Sabrina Jeffries.

as far as self-help books go, this one's easy to read. a bit psychodynamic for my tastes, but it did have some interesting insights.

Sad to note that whenever I'm in a used bookstore, I see copies of this short story collection lying around. Pick one up! The stories are emotionally raw, while tightly controlled in structure and language. Can't wait to teach it when the opportunity comes about. I'm looking forward to his next book, which may be about Spanish-speaking martians? A bit unclear on that point.

This is such a swashbuckler! Mixed in with some fantasy elements, to boot! Like a lot of Kipling swashbucklers, some of the writing is dated and no longer PC, but keeping it all in perspective, it's still a great read!
