This series continues to amaze me! I read a LOT and if I truly enjoy a book, it usually gets a 4-star rating. I save my 5-star ratings for books that I find truly special. The entire Black Dagger Brotherhood series has gotten 5-star rating from me so far. It's hard for me to pin-point exactly what is so special about these. They're paranormal romances mixed with urban fantasy. They've got the boy meets girl storyline (or in this case boy meets vampire) of a romance, but they also have the rich world-building of an urban fantsy. I think what sets these apart for me is how complicated the characters (and there are plenty) all are. The stress between characters is almost always based on a series of misunderstanding or lack of communication. Since they're written in 3rd person, the reader understands the feelings of each, so when these feelings are unspoken in the story, resulting in the conflict, it just about tears one apart! There's no wonder the psychology field encourages honest communication in relationships, yet many of us struggle with it in our lives. I think that very human flaw - turned into a relationship lesson - is what makes each of these novels so special. Due to this, the reader's emotional attachment to the characters grows throughout the series as well. I really just can't say enough good things about these novels. If you like a good vampire romance - and don't mind a bit of action and some very hot, erotic, love scenes mixed in - then definitely pick up this series!

I tried but I couldn't figure out what the hell this book was about. I never finished it.

I'll admit that I like answers at the end of books or movies, and perhaps my frustration with the end of this book is that it left too many questions unanswered. Characters were introduced whose purposes - to me - remained unresolved. The play is better by a landslide - I almost suggest seeing that and skipping the book altogether.

Wow! Hosseini's writing style is wonderful, painting a full bodied picture complete with the sights, smells and atmosphere of Afghanistan. Encompassing pre-Russian Kabul to post-Taliban invasion, it makes the reader feel what it is like to be an Afghan. It was heartbreaking, yet inspiring. I plan to seek out more of Hosseini's work, though I doubt it will compare to this masterpiece. I will probably read this one again, which is saying a lot.

it was ok a little boring. its was about some boys that were trapped on a island. the longer they were trapped on the island the more savage the boys become. they also thought there was a monster on the island but never figured out they were the monsters that they feared. before they were saved two people did not survive one died from a boulder falling on him and the other one was killed because he scared everyone

Several people said they liked this, but I found it to be rather annoying. The author seemed to think his trails growing up were a lot deeper and more meaningful than I did.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that wholly remarkable book from the publishing corporations of Ursa Minor, slightly cheaper than the Encyclopedia Galactica and with the words "Don't Panic" printed in large friendly letters on its cover, has this to say about The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that wholly unremarkable book from the publishing corporations of Douglas Adams, slightly cheaper than the Encyclopedia Britannica and with the words "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" printed in large friendly letters on its cover: This entry has been expanded upon on a version of the guide that has slipped through a disturbance in the space-time wash: "Ongoing copyright issue." A most remarkable entry indeed, considering it was later found this version of the guide was from several million years in the past. Some people have argued that if we knew the reason why this entry had been, therein will be, therein will know, replaced by a blank slate in the future, we would be as much in the dark concerning life, the universe, and everything as we were before. On the other hand, other people have speculated we would be as much in the dark concerning life, the universe, and everything as we were after, and if we knew, therein will know, what was after what, then we would know how to communicate much more effectively. This theory has since gathered the support of people from the first group who could only reply, "What?" to the second group's theory, which in turn replied, "That is the question!" This in turn puzzled people from the second group who had long thought what was the question and that was not it. Thus, people from the second group flocked to the first group who were now split between the ones who thought that before the what came the who, and those that thought that after the who came the what. Then a small minority from both groups asked why and then the war began. However, another item that slipped through the same disturbance in the space-time wash, what was highly improbable, was a review of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that wholly unremarkable book from the publishing corporations of Douglas Adams, slightly cheaper than the Encyclopedia Britannica and with the words "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" printed in large friendly letters on its cover, something that was absurdly improbable. This review existed in our space-time wash for a total of three point one to the power of minus three trillion two billion eight million seven hundred and eighty seven thousand three hundred and forty four seconds, before it was blown to oblivion by a collapsing star that went nova, reconstituted by the improbability field of a passing starship, teleported by an exotic particle beam to the Vogon homeworld, where it was signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public enquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters. By that time, the blown, reconstituted, teleported, signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public enquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters, copy had only one word left, "Harmless."

I have never read one of these "naughty nooners" before and I wasn't sure how long they were. I figured with the name it should be a short novella, easily read in an afternoon. Nope, it didn't even take two minutes to read and I'm soooo glad that it was free because it wasn't worth those two minutes of my time. Jamillah (h) as a young girl had fallen in love with Prince Zahir. However she was the daughter of a servent and so she wasn't good enough for the prince. When the prince's family learned of thier infatuation for each other they had sent Jamillah's family away. Now years later and on her own (her parents died years ago) she's starving and very thirsty so she goes and drinks from the princes horse's water. Prince Zahir is told that someone is stealing his horses water and it is up to him to decide what punishment the offender should recieve, usually they would lose a hand. When he gets there and finds out that it is Jamillah, his long lost love (from when they were 6) he can't wait to carry out his punishment. He won't take her hand but he will make her his sex slave. Imo, this was written very poorly. The sex scenes lacked any heat at all.

I believe that every girl should read this, especially by 6th grade. It really just is the perfect preteen book.
