Offers backing for the idea that levity and lightening up in the workplace is good for everyone. Both research, and examples/suggestions are provided.

Its hard to explain how I felt about this book. I enjoyed reading it but it was horrible and pointless. Does that make any sense? Maybe you have to read it to understand...lol.

This is where Kirkman really shakes up the status quo, and sets up this series for its next act. And of course, I should know by now to not get attached to the characters, but DAMN there is some mega-carnage in this volume! A very pivotal character is killed and it is TOTALLY shocking, even with death just a zombie-lurch away at all times.

"I've been tepid in my response to the most recent In Death releases, so I approached Treachery in Death with some trepidation. If I didn't like it a great deal, I planned to go on a semi-permanent J.D. Robb hiatus. Thank god I won't have to do that. Although Treachery in Death is primarily a procedurally oriented book, Robb still serves up plenty of great personal interplay between Eve Dallas and her NYPSD cohorts. Peabody's relationship with Eve moves to a new level. The unmotherly Eve is like a mama bird in this book; she's pushing Peabody out of the nest knowing she's ready to fly. And Peabody, around whom this corruption plot circles, flies high and strong." Read the rest of this review on my blog at http://laurie-gold.blogspot.com/2011/...

Still damn good. So many kicks to the gut. It was bizarre to read from my copy from high school, which I marked all over with embarrassing notes and un-profound epiphanies. I really need a new copy.

I was originally reluctant to give this series a try. It just didn't sound very appealing. I should have known better. I was hooked from the get go. Georgina's reluctant succubus is one of my all time favorites characters.

Gretchen has trained to hunt and kill monsters for the past 4 years because she's a daughter of Medusa and a guardian of the gate. Things have started to get a little weird lately though, with her mentor disappearing and more monsters showing up. Grace has just moved to San Francisco where she starts seeing monsters. She and Gretchen meet and are surprised to discover they're twins. Grace starts training with Gretchen, when they find out they're really triplets. Great action, side romances, this book is an exciting new twist on the paranormal story. Great cliff-hanger ending, can't wait to read the sequel.

Tried several times and just couldn't get through this one. I love well-written historical fiction, especially Jewish history, but this one did not grab me. I'll try it again someday.

Well, I decided to read Russo's first novel. You can TELL it is a first novel! I know he is a great writer though (Empire Falls, Straight Man)

I think this is probably my third reading, and it dropped down to three stars. I'm not sure if I have been reading an excess of fantasy lately or something, but the more the book progressed, the more I was thinking that devolves into a romance novel. Katsa's character is so fun, and I like the descriptions of her doing daring physical feats, but, as other readers have noted, Cashore highlights a sexual double standard: it seems forward-thinking and laudable when a heroine initiates a no-strings attached intimate relationship, but if a man were to do that, the same behavior would be selfish at best and scoundralish at worst.
