Alvii Cores alvii — I think this is probably my third reading, and it dropped down to three stars. I'm not sure if I have been reading an excess of fantasy lately or something, but the more the book progressed, the more I was thinking that devolves into a romance novel. Katsa's character is so fun, and I like the descriptions of her doing daring physical feats, but, as other readers have noted, Cashore highlights a sexual double standard: it seems forward-thinking and laudable when a heroine initiates a no-strings attached intimate relationship, but if a man were to do that, the same behavior would be selfish at best and scoundralish at worst.

Poonam Ohri _oonam_halla — I loved this book, but can't see myself reading it again (a bit like 1984). It was a bit Lord of the Flies meets F Scott Fitzgerald by way of American Psycho - I'd like to think my scientific background really shows in my inability to write a decent review. Maybe I'll update it when we've had book club and I can steal my more eloquent pals' ideas.

Ashfaq Kp _shfaq_kp — This book makes me want to read more of Amy Tan's. Fully rich with cross culture issue. Amy Tan cleverly reveal how two people with different cultural back ground view their lives and how they can influence each other point of view. There's a lot of wisdom that we can adapt in our own life in this book. Although, each time Kwan speak in English I had a hard time to understand what she meant, but that's because my native language is not english ^_^. This book is surely worth to be one of those books to keep and share with others.
