I would have loved to get a hold of this book with a red pen!!! Interesting information--repeated at least five times over and over again. And cut the three chapter rant at the end of the book. But I did learn new things about Mesoamerica and Lund is completely right in reiterating that scientific proofs are not going to be what convinces people that the Book of Mormon is a real history of the people of this continent. This is a great book to read, but especially for those who already have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

During: I am surprised to find out that Barbara is undercover writer and only pretending to have to live on a minimum wage budget. It seems unfair that she complains about her temporary hard work, while it is a way of life for millions of American citizens today. Review: Overall Nickel and Dimed was not a horrible book to sit down and read. Although there was an immense amount of facts, the book had a good amount of dialouge and stories. I thought the twist at the end was interesting, how Ehrenreich views the poor as heroes who sacrife their time in horrible, minimun waged jobs just so we can live a better life. Today, many people view workers of Wal-Mart or other coorporations as low-lives who had to have done something wrong in order to be so low on the social scale. So I found it interesting how she had a different view of their situation.

Found this at the Library today. Was wanting to get one more book (I wanted 3) and I had two already and just couldn't find another....Lila was growing impatient (she was being great up until this point looking at a Barbie display/collection) and was moaning to go downstairs. I grabbed just one more book, this one, and the heroine is named LILA! :) It has a very quirky plot, and may enlighten me on philosophy as well.

In the cookie cutter style that is the Nicholas Sparks books, this one is my personal favorite outside of the Notebook. If you don't know anything about this man's style of writing, just pick up one of his books and really you've read them all. Don't get me wrong, he is very good at this genre, but after the third or fourth read where everything feels a little too familiar, you just don't feel like needing to read anything more of his.

Very Orwellian. In fact, if you've read '1984' or seen any one of a half dozen distopian films that have been released in the past 10-15 years (specifically 'Equilibrium' comes to mind) than you've probably in a circumspect way already read this book.

Great for most of the book. Starts to slow down towards the end, but if you have kids or want to have kids, this is a great book to read. It will scare you and put some perspective on child predators.
