I was a little disappointed in this book after the rave reviews I have read. I liked it, but I never felt like I couldn't put it down. The very detailed descriptions of farming and politics were a little tedious to me. I don't mind a long book, especially if it is really good, but I thought this one could have been better. It will be a while before I tackle War and Peace.

Rather too "cozy" for my taste, and not especially well-written. Poor dialogue, flat characterizations, and a plot where everything had to explained in the last chapter.

Okay, could not get this - finished it, not sure why I finished it not sure why he wrote it - love to hear from someone who loved it and why. I found the language lovely but rather imprecise and the point of the story ?? Did not find one.

finally we hear from Cynthia! Her account of her life with John was not watered down, just straight forward and honest. This is a must read for every Lennon fan, it shows John not as a hero or a marter, but as a person, with feelings, and passions.

Terrific job of compiling facts, but a little bit dogmatic. I can say that the author (son of one of the men in the story) does a better job than I expected of remaining "neutral" (treating the Japanese opponents as human beings), but obviously it is tilted a bit towards the Marines (which is fine, they did an incredible job). And I believe that there might have been a bit of the bad that was overlooked, which is common in war history books. The book definitely plants you in the battle, and you feel the ups and downs the "hurry up and wait" mentality, all that. The only reason it didnt get 5 stars from me was the almost movie-like tone of the writing, and indeed it did become one.

I think this one is a wonderful, fast packing read. I read that book in less than 3 hours! I was into that book. I really enjoy it very much. I have read another book by Clive Barker. He wrote fantasy books. Different. I like his novels so far. I am supposed to read his sequel to Abarat called Abarat: Days Of Magic, Nights Of War. I will read that book eventually soon. :-) I think I will read more of his books in the near future. Back to to The Thief of Always. I learned that it is a fable story. I like that boy named Harvey in the story. Anyway, he is a major character in the book. He is very smart, for his own age, I believe like 12 years old. He knows what to do. He is fearless. He could see something is wrong with that house and everyone else. He won't let himself to believe everything is real. At first he believed everything was real but after a while, he realized it was not something right. He wanted to find more, and got more curious. Others did not care; they just were very happy. He had go on his own and find the hard way... The house he went to called Mr. Hood's Holiday House. I was like what is Holiday House exactly? As soon as I realize when I was reading further. Harvey and other children have different holidays every other day and night. Even the seasons changes in a short time! Interesting. I would love to have different holidays every day. I would want to get Christmas gifts every day. Ha. ;-) THe title was relatively good. At first, I was comtemplating what it was all about until near to the end. I started to understand everything! I am glad it had a very happy ending. A good closing. I like that!
