I didn't care for the title, but the author does differentiate the dwarf planets in the text. It's organized into sections on each of the 8 planets, and the 3 dwarfs, Pluto, Eris, and Ceres, laid out in order from the sun. Extra pages include moons, comets and the oort cloud, and other solar systems. Not included were the two new dwarf planets, Makemake and Haumea. The illustrations are absolutely spectacular, and the text was light enough to engage a six year old, and informative enough for a ten year old.

I enjoyed this book while I was reading it, but I was frustrated at the end, because I was still confused about some big components of the mystery. That may be more of a revelation about me than about the book -- but I'm going to blame it on the book. =)

I absolutely adored Eugenides book Middlesex, and I liked this novel but thought that it lacked the poignancy of Middlesex. Eugenides' excellent descriptions and powerful ability to place the reader into the setting are there, but the plot for Virgin Suicides is lacking where it was not for Middlesex. The quest to explain the suicides remains unexplained (I know, that is the point, suicides are rather unexplainable, but still). Despite the group narrators/ semi Greek chorus' quest to make the reader feel for the Lisbon girls, I felt that the only one that they gave a damn about was Lux, and I really didn't come to have much empathy for that character at all. The rest of the girls seemed like accessories and their parents are neither enemies or worthy of your sympathies.

استاد معمار که همیشه در اندیشه ی ساختن خانه های مسکونی برای مردم بوده، از این که ناچار است مجتمع های اداری بسازد، سرخورده و دلگیر است. او طرحی بزرگ و نهایی برای یک خانه ی مسکونی دارد و معتقد است این طرح تنها برای آسایش و زندگی شیرین مردم تهیه شده. وقتی ایده ی خود را با شور و شوق با هیلده در میان می گذارد، زن به سادگی از او می پرسد چرا دست به کار نمی شود. معمار اعتراف می کند که طرحش آرمانی ست و هیچ کس طالب چنین طرح بزرگ و با شکوهی برای محل زندگی کردن نیست. هیلده او را تشویق می کند و استاد معمار بالاخره کاخ آرزویش را می سازد. روزی که همه ی آشنایان و مردم شهر برای افتتاح این ساختمان مسکونی با اشکوب های بلند حاضرند، استاد بر بالای طبقه ی آخر می رود تا از بلندی کاخ آروزیش جهان را خطاب قرار دهد... استاد معمار توسط محمود توتونچیان ترجمه شده و انتشارات دریا در 1347 آن را منتشر کرده است. آثار نمایشی هنریک ایبسن مانند زندگی اش پر از فراز و نشیب اند. برخی منتقدان او را به راستی ستوده اند و برخی هرگز آثارش را نپسندیدند. ایبسن به معنایی که دکتر امیر حسین آریانپور در کتاب "ایبسن آشوب گرای" نوشته، چه در زندگی و چه در آثارش یک آنارشیست جلوه می کند. با وجودی که گفته اند از شکسپیر به این سو دوران تراژدی بسر آمده، برخی از منتقدان بر این اعتقاداند که ایبسن تنها نمایش نامه نویسی ست که برخی از آثارش مانند اشباح و هداگابلر به تراژدی به معنای ارسطویی و شکسپیری آن نزدیک است.

Brilliantly moving account of the struggle of the Bielski Otriad. Ray Mears also did a programme a few years ago on how the survival techniques the Otriad used to survive in the harsh forests of Belarus. Also contains some harrowing accounts of some Nazi atrocities. Very worthwhile read, although don't expect to come out with a smile on your face at the end of it. Read this before watching the 2008 Edward Zwick film with Daniel Craig.
