Holy crap this book was good: haunting, tragic, and gorgeously written. This was written about a dozen years ago and I only heard about it recently because the author has a follow up out (Northwest Corner: dying to read it). I can’t believe I never ran into Reservation Road before. It was a bestseller and a movie and so amazing it’s hard to fathom this is the first I’ve heard of it. It focuses on a tragedy (hit and run) and is told through multiple viewpoints. Sometimes shifting narration works and sometimes it doesn’t but here it is essential. I think staying in any one person’s head would’ve become too much. The contrast between grieving parents (I so felt the depths of their despair) and the guilt and self-loathing of the driver is essential to the story of these people. I don’t have much to say other than it was captivating, though depressing, and definitely a read-in-one-sitting book. I will for sure read this author’s other books.

I liked this book, but I thought Jane could be really annoying sometimes. It started out pretty slow but then eventually got better. It wasn't exactly what I expected when I read the summary and it seemed like more of a set up for the next book because most of the major events happen towards the end.

The fantasy element of the book adds interest and suspense but is not overwhelming. The writing style is lyrical and generally fascinating. This book is not just for children; it's a great read!

I don't remember much about this book, which suggests I didn't like it all that well. I feel that memory is an excellent gauge of opinion, and if it fails you, whatever you were trying to recall wasn't worth much. Either that or you were just distracted.

the story begin when the nazis hunting for the jews and send them to the concentration camp so that the gruesome holocaust project can be started..this anne frank girl told readers on how she and her family move to a secret annex(her father's office's store rooms, i thnk)which is a hideplace for the whole family..soon,they've been caught and sent 2 the concentration camp..fortunately,the whole family is released cause hitler is destroyes by ...(dunno) and unfortunately,anne frank died bcos of asthmatic prob..(?)

highly entertaining and fairly crazy, if not actually mad (it comes from the school of why the hell not, mostly). the last quarter felt rather too didactic - carrington is so focused on getting her point across that marian loses her characteristic voice. but generally it's wonderfully inconsequential and weird.
