About a daughter who lost her mother early in life and litterally lost her mind. She needed to be rebuilt. She came undone.

I loved the Laura Ingalls series growing up, and I thought I would really like this one. McClure does a great job with her research and I enjoyed the references to the books. I liked reading about seeing the homesteads and the places Laura had lived. My mom and I once talked about visiting an Ingalls site, and I still think that would be a pretty neat trip. I had a hard time with McClure's characterizations of other Laura fans. She comes across as snooty, denigrating those Laura freaks, the same ones that are liable to pick up this book. While those sections made me wince, I liked the idea of searching for one's childhood by looking for the real Laura under the layers of fiction and the past in our modern world. What a great concept... and one that leaves the reader a little wistful.

I thought it was a good book about how a kid lives and how he gets treated.

Not exactly a deep series, but got hooked on it through the show and the books were a great summer read.

I bought this book like I'd buy a candy bar while waiting in line at CVS. Except that I was in the Co-op. It's one of those enticing little books. It takes about 45 minutes to read. Here's the summary: Pascal Engel raises some legitimate concerns about Rorty's understanding of truth, like whether you can sustain a notion of justification without a notion of truth, or whether we can give up the idea that truth is a norm (a standard of correctness) for beliefs and assertions. Rorty says that he doesn't really care one way or the other. Disputes about truth are scholastic and boring. Engel accuses Rorty of having a conception of language and the world that is "smooth" and "homogenous" and that ignores traditional distinctions (he quotes Blackburn here). He says the role of philosophy should be to make distinctions. Rorty says he likes the idea that his view of language is smooth and homogenous, and embraces what was supposed to be a criticism. He says the traditional distinctions are worn out and need to be replaced. Engel gets mad and says Rorty's views aren't all that different from "King Carnap's". Note: The jacket blurb, from one Bruce Krajewski, says "Richard Rorty and Pascal Engel's exchange about truth starts out in university tweed and ends up in a street fight". That's true if comparing someone to Carnap constitutes a street fight, but false otherwise.

How did I end up reading this book? I didn't comprehend what was going on half the time! I'm just glad I'm done with it!

Why do I feel like bashing my head against the wall? The story was going great in the first two books...I even dreamed about the characters. I couldn't stop thinking about them because they were that catchy...and OMG! REN! And in this book you killed it. The main character was stuck in a paradox so many freaking times, I wanted to jump in the book, pull her by her hair and throw her to the moon, then RUN to REN and make him mine forever. Colleen, why the ending? The book went so freakin slow...twenty thousand words HAD to be wasted on Kelsey's "MMMM REN IS SO GOOD" OR "HE HURT ME AND I WILL HURT HIM BACK" moments. So you just like RUSHED the ending...killing me!!! If you want to write a good book, you might as well give it your best, just a hint!

I love Tim Sandlin. This one's about an old folks home filled with former hippies: when one of them has a secret kittycat confiscated from his room, the residents all bond together and take over Mission Pescadero, the old folks' home. Pretty hilarious imagery, typical brilliant Sandlin dialogue. Funny, clever, all of Sandlin's books are wonderful entertainments.
