This was a somewhat fun book. It's the typical buddy road trip plot, but through hell.

Very interesting although much of what he said was common sense. Our rabbi mentioned this in his speech about a year ago. I related to a lot of this and it was very easy to read.

I wrote one of my college application essays about this book. Though, I can't for the life of me remember what my point was. Profound, I was not. This book, however, is wonderful. I will always pair it with The Wide Sargasso Sea -- Jean Rhys' take on the madwoman in the attic's side of the story. But that's just icing -- this book is stand alone.

Sarah Vowell is really smart and funny, and this book is full of lots of great trivia. It is easy to forget, though, when you're taking the book around with you to read in public, that the word "assassination" is kind of hardcore. I realized that when talking about the book to a 1st grade teacher I subbed for this week.

A compelling read, but feels winded at times. A great addition to a family of misanthropic literature. Beautiful language and imagery, but not much in way of "plot."

Great. Gripping story that keeps pushing me to read the others. I have seen the movies but i have enjoyed reading the stories just about as much as I enjoy watching the movies if not more. Relaxing read but very suspenseful at times, found my self worrying about characters and cheering for good movies even though i already had seen the movies.

Stream-of-consciousness; meaning of life; nature of consciousness. A dense, sometimes difficult read. The novel centers on the character of Jacob Flanders, a lonely young man unable to synthesize his love of classical culture with the chaotic reality of contemporary society, notably the turbulence of World War I. The novel is an examination of character development and the meaning of a life by means of a series of brief impressions and conversations, stream of consciousness, internal monologue, and Jacob's letters to his mother. In zealous pursuit of classicism, Jacob studies the ancients at Cambridge and travels to Greece. He either idealizes or ignores the women who admire him. At the end of the novel all that remains of Jacob's life are scattered objects in an abandoned room. (excerpted from editorial reviews)

Just finished the last book in the trilogy and it was just that... a finish. It was less exciting then the previous books, and a little more boring with the introduction of all sorts of new people and conspiricies. However, it wrapped up the series nicely and once again showed why Lisbeth Salander is one of the greatest heroines of all time, and one kick ass bitch! She consistently surprised me throughout the series, and this book was no exception (helllooo, nail guns!). Overall a great series if you love murder mystery and the coolest chick in history to grace the pages of a book.
