This book certainly had an energetic narrator! While it's a good style to have, over time some of the idioms and sayings will go out of fashion and I think it'll be dated in another 10 years. There's alot of Spanish in the book, and since I don't know it, I always wondered if I was missing something. For those with ereaders, it would have been great to just click on the phrase and have it translated immediately. In the paperback version, the numerous footnotes are in tiny, tiny print--still interesting and if true, very informative, but if they had been printed in regular font, the book would have been another 50 pages. I don't understand the significance of the cover. The story itself was fine, especially as it went back two generations--as usual, I found the older stories more compelling.

I really don't like the Twilight series. I think that Stephanie Meyer tried to model them off of the Harry Potter books (Which I also don't like, but for an entirely different reason) and she tried to make them really long and have a lot of things happen. The difference is that in the Harry Potter books everything happens at once and it almost happens too fast. As soon as you finish reading about one thing another thing has already happened. In Twilight, everything goes too slow and nothing really happens. Stephanie Meyer adds in stupid little details that don't mean anything. In the first book she talks about the rain in Forks about 30,000 times. And its like "Enough already! We get the point" I think that she writes about the rain in Forks for half the book.
